Dunno if anybody reads this.....think we'll change the name of London Ontario to Buttfuck Ontario...here's the rundown...

Myles Deck and The Fuzz at The Black Shire....they went on early and called it shirtless tuesday cause it was a hot and humid nite...They played a real intense set of garage/punk/rock'n'roll that i realy dug...it's that pop sensibility that these guys have that makes it....huge crowd that nite....just me and the headlining band!! That's right, a private show just for me!!! Posters went up, mentioned on the college radio etc...and just me!

The Famines at Call The Office....same nite as Myles Deck....crowd was 100% bigger!! Do, the math, that means 2 people were there, me and my buddy Kellen...but The Famines rocked like there were 1000 of us and gained 2 fans for life!!! An amazing show!!!

Diodes....were fucking hot, just like back in 77!! Musta been 60 or 70 people there, lotsa old farts like myself and loads of fun!! But, they were REALLY LOUD!!! Even with earplugs, but my feet took over and wouldn't stop dancing cause i'm Tired Of Waking Up Tired!!!

Hook-Up at Grooves Records was really cool!! Think early Stooges meet Blue Cheer meet early Who and you'll get an idea what this trio are like...female vocals on some songs really add a whole nother dimension!! And they played later that nite at an art co-op/hippy thing to maybe 15 people and really rocked out...shoulda brought my camera...

Adny Shernoff.....along with Gord Lewis (Teenage Head) was a real rock'n'roll epiphany/talk/music session...nice and intimate, maybe 20 people tops at this one...it shoulda been packed!! Adny asked me around 11 or so, 'Do people come out late in this town?'.....nope, nobody but us die hards go out to see real rock'n'roll these days....and yes he did play a Master Plan song...Find Something Beautiful...

We've got a big show coming up on Sunday June 27th....Red Mass (X-CPC Gangbangs), Teenanger and Lonesome Ghost at Moon Over Marin....ealry sunday show, only $5 at the door.

Wanda Jackson, Sunday July 4th at London Music Club....probably sold out by this time as it's a real small room....

Paul Collins on wed Aug 11th....another Radio WW presentation...

    • Well maybe once in awhile....but here's a few upcoming things some of you might be interested in...

Tuesday May 25th.....The Famines at Call The Office.....2 piece Stoogian artschool rant and roll from Edmonton, which is a long fucking way from London Ontario so you should come out and see these guys...plus they just released another 7" that you can pick up at the show...

Tuesday May 25th....Myles Deck and The Fuzz at Black Shire Pub....Halifax garage rockers return for another evening of hi-energy guitar fueled pop/garage fun.

Thursday June 3rd....The Diodes, Johnny and The G-Rays and genuine vintage 70's punk video from Toronto. This'll be The Diodes first time in London in 30 years!!! And Johnny and The G-Rays haven't been here in almost that long....it's at Call The Office.

As a warmup that evening, i'll be spinning late 70's/early 80's Canpunk from Toronto, Hamilton and London over the airwaves and the internet on Radio What Wave...here's the facebook event for the radio show:

      http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=121020061265288

Saturday June 5th....Grooves Record Store hosts The Hook Up at 2PM....brand new band with some psyche/Deeetroit early 70's influences noise that you're sure to dig. The Hook Up plays at some art collective later that evening...

Friday June 11th....Andy Shernoff along with Gord (Teenage Head) Lewis hit Call The Office for an evening of story telling....probably some Dictators noise as well, and maybe if you ask nice Adny will play some Masterplan...

Saturday June 12th.....Johnny Terrien and The Bad Lieutenants and 63 Monroe play at The Dawghouse....it's a birthday bash for Speedy Mike's 40 ouncer!!

Lots more to come this summer....Wanda Jackson, Red Mass, Teenanger, Paul Collins Beat, 905's, Mother's Children and more!!

    • Hey,

The Beaten Hearts from Moncton, New Brunswick have put up 5 songs from our first recordings -- we did 11 in all -- to MySpace.  We include members of Pop Punkers Fear of Lipstick and Varsity Weirdos and former members of Punk Rock 'n' Roll outfits like Bad Luck #13, The Valentine Killers, Teenage Hurricanes and Dunce Club.  We're currently searching for labels who are interested in releasing 7"s and hope to have some vinyl out by the fall.  While the songs are rooted in the fast and loud sounds of the Saints, old Lazy Cowgirls, Pagans and New Bomb Turks, we also like the solid pop hooks of the Real Kids, Undertones, Modernettes and Replacements.

      Cheers!

    • My friends in the Japanese punk band DOING LIFE asked me to help spread the word about their plans to join the Festival Envol et Macadam. You can check out all the Japanese bands at the link below. If you like 'em, vote for DOING LIFE (once a day, even)!

      http://www.envoletmacadam.com/japanrocks/videos_an.aspx?Id=158

DOING LIFE are kinda lumped into the hardcore scene in Japan but their sound owes more the the Clash and some tunes even approach Stray Cats punkabilly. They've appeared on the Meltdown comp feat. NYC and Japanese hardcore/punk bands. They toured the west coast and more recently played with Australia's garage punk band Sons of Lee Marvin. Take a listen s'il vous plait:

    • Wow...sorry to hear that. I once put on a show in Oly, WA and invited the Worst to play. While it sucks to be suffering through an aneurysm, I guess he should be glad he's Canadian. In the states, he'd have to sell his house just to cover the hospital bill. I remember when Nardwuar went through the same thing.

    • For those who haven't already heard: Greg Johnson, lead singer of the Fiends and respected member of the Vancouver music scene for many years recently had a double aneurysm and is in serious condition in the hospital. I'm told that all things considered he is doing okay, but he's still going to need our help with his mortgage payments. A few of us have put together a benefit night for Greg this coming Saturday December 5 at the Wise Hall, Vancouver. Bands that are playing: Spitfires Little Guitar Army The Fiends (Greg's band with Peter Gripp filling in on vox) Motorama The Worts (a pickup band of various Fiends alumni and others including Gord Smithers, Dan Small, Randy Bowman, Marc Godfrey, Paul McKenzie) I, Braineater (with Phil Western) Dirty and the Derelicts The Stoolies(feat. Terry of Slow fame) Free Cigarettes for Drunk Minors For those who just want to give and arent interested in the raffle, there's a PayPal donation button where you can contribute any amount to Greg's support fund just below the raffle ticket purchase button at www.lowdowndirty.biz The raffle is pretty sweet though. These prizes will be drawn for between sets at the benefit on Saturday: -A Sparrow guitar (worth thousands) - I, Braineater art - Andrea Tucker art - Burlesque Tickets - Enigmas Reunion Tickets - Death Sentence Tickets - Pointed Sticks tickets (evening show) - focus 2 hair salon $150 gift cert. - basket of beauty products ($75 value) Either way, Greg appreciates your support.
