    • That's right folks, Melbourne horror country band Graveyard Train are heading to Canada and hell we're excited. At this point there's not a lot of shows but this is what we're up to.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival (15th-17th July)
      Hillside Festival, Toronto (22nd – 24th July)
      Horseshoe Tavern Toronto (25th July)

Here's a few quotes from reviews of their latest album "The Drink, The Devil and The Dance" to give you more of an idea:
It’s a genius concept really: Graveyard Train have twisted folk, blues, roots, bluegrass and murder ballads into something quite original and immensely entertaining. Death and violence have never been so uproarious.
      René Schaefer, Mess + Noise

Jump on board the Graveyard Train and see what has made them a hit from Tamworth to Edinburgh.
      Patrick Donovan, The Age

      And a bit more:
A whole bunch of bearded maniacs are coming to get you this year - brace yourself for all the foot stomping, chain smashing, man-choir, bellowing singalong bluster of Graveyard Train. Vampires, werewolves, mummies and the general macabre are song topics of choice, while old timey instruments like banjo, dobro and washboard help set the scene. Their latest album The Drink The Devil and The Dance just received album of the week on both Beat Magazine and 3RRR and Album of the year from 3PBS FM. The boys are generally voted Australia’s number 1 Horror Country band which has seen them tour Australia extensively over the last 3 years. Come see what the fuss is about and bring your stomping boots!

    • On second thought, I just put a couple new recordings on my profile page. Just recorded on a single mic in our living room, but it's what we use for local festival applications, so check it out.

Hey Dave, i live in northern BC, our band Tree Bomb is somewhat garage (getting more so all the time). Recordings are not quite ready yet, but will come eventually.

We're heading down to Vancouver in a couple of weeks - know of any bands we should be on the lookout for there? Anyone?

    • @ Hook Up...too late, but it turned out to be Ontario only. Someone else was supposed to do the Quebec scene but that didn't happen....new Bananas is now out with the article.

    • Hey Dave, don't forget us!!!!

    • What happened was, i started doing Ontario. The amount of garage and cool bands was overwhelming!! So many small and cool regional scenes that rarely interact due to geographical distances.

So the article is finished and published in the latest editon of Bananas zine out of NYC. It's a 3 pager, almost 3000 words and there's lots of pictures as well....the disappointing thing is, i missed some cool bands!!

Bananas is on facebook and you can mailorder issue 3 from them...it's a really cool zine. If you live in Toronto, you can get it at Frantic City, in London On it's at Grooves Records...also free at cool stores in the NYC area. And it's a really cool zine or did i say that already.

    • Here's some info on a show we're doing at The Black Shire Pub on Saturday May 28th...as always, come on out and have some fun!!!!

      CHRW's Radio What Wave Presents:

Jeremy Gluck and The Young Barracudas.....aka The Barracudas Redux.
      The Barreracudas and
Johnny Terrien and The Bad Lieutenants
This will be the first time ever for the Legendary Barracudas to make an appearance in London Ontario. The Barracudas were a UK band formed in the late 1970s, notable for their 1980 hit single "Summer Fun" which reached number 37 in the UK singles chart. Originally perceived as a novelty surf act due to their early material, subsequent recordings showed them to be a fierce garage rock'n'roll band in the mold of the 13th Floor Elevators, The Seeds, The Standells and with the pop sensibilities of the Sire-era Flamin' Groovies, the Byrds, and Beau Brummels. The band also notably featured Chris Wilson of the aforementioned Flamin Groovies, and Australia's Jim Dickson (Passengers, New Christs, Radio Birdman).

Jeremy Gluck (born in Ottawa, but moved to the UK for the punk movement), lead singer and pop mastermind of The Barracudas, takes you back to the "other eighties," with an all-star ensemble of supreme young power-pop phenoms playing all your favorites from the first two classic Barracudas LPs! These Young Barracudas currently play in such killer combos as Mother's Children, Million Dollar Marxists, Zebrassieres and others and not coincidentally Ottawa based.

(with the chorus of 'London city, here we come' )

The Barreracudas....Not a typo, but an homage to the Barracudas in name only, this is the killer powerpop band out of Georgia, featuring none other than Gentleman Jessie and have recorded on such labels as Douchemaster, Bachelor Records and many other fine labels.

Johnny Terrien and The Bad Lieutenants....London Ontario's Mightiest punk combo make a rare and well deserved live appearance. Check out their Speed City Records 7" for some really cool sounds!

This is part of a short North American tour (one of only 4 stops in Canada) and London Ontario is lucky to get this Killer show on Saturday May 28th at The Black Shire Pub....Come on out and have some Summer Fun!!

      Only $8 at the door!!!

      Here's the facebook event page:

And we've got another show coming up Friday June 10th at The Black Shire Pub, Miesha and The Spanks, Pelt and The Sphinxs, an evening of all women led combos. More info on that one soon.
