    • Hey Nick would there be any way you could help us out with a show on the 4th then? Gus' pub told us that that date wouldn't work out.

      Thanks for your suggestions!!

      Hi there,

I live in Dartmouth (across the harbour from Halifax if you didn't know), and could probably set up a show.

Gus' pub is a cool spot that would definitely fit your style. The date you have listed for Hali is a Sunday, so I can't imagine a show drawing a huge crowd.

Alternatively, Shake It Dance Studio is an all ages venue that could be rented out, and a friend's band and my band host Friday night shows every Friday other than the first of the month at Jacob's Lounge in downtown Dartmouth, and we collectively rent a warehouse jam space that could possibly be used for a show.

Anyway, I hope your tour comes together. I dig your music.

    • Hey man, we'll play with you guys again any time. I don't know much about getting shows to be honest. There's a reason we're not playing again until September. But I can find you other cool bands in the hammer, for sure.

    • Jeez, small world (or small site)- I'm pretty sure I told Lou Molinaro recently that he should book Magic Shadows and Weirdonia together because you guys would make a good bill. Anyway, yeah, still true.

    • The Lyres.....Canadian version with Monoman and Crummy stuff backing him up...probably the only Canadian band that can do justice to Monoman's Lyres.

    • May 31, 2012 4:13 PM CDT
    • I wish I would have known about this earlier, I definitely would have made the drive from Toronto. The Lyers, shit.

    • May 31, 2012 4:13 PM CDT

    • May 31, 2012 11:10 AM CDT
    • Two nights of great shows at This Aint Hollywood in Hammertown: Friday the 1st, hometown heroes the Humps play r'n'r, the Noble Savages make a racket, the Silhouettes make their world debut, and Christian D. and the Hangovers headline with rockabilly greatness from Toronto. Saturday the 2nd, the Magic Shadows play wild garage psych, some dope DJs, the Monday Nuns reunite, and- holy smokes!- THE LYRES headline. Yes, those Lyres! See ya there!

    • Prairie psych meets Southern Ontario psych, so stoked for this show.

$6 at the Mansion (506 Princess St). Doors at 9:30, Lost Cause at 1015, Ketamines at 11.

      Sunday May 25 / 19+

      KETAMINES (Lethbridge, AB).
      From their LP release page:
Paul and James were in a bunch of silly highschool HC bands, which lead to James Leroy (1999), then Paul and Jane were in Endangered Ape (2005), then James played one show in Endangered Ape and Evan joined immediately after that (2009) until the band broke up. Paul and James and Evan were in a stupid punk band called 9/11, and then Paul and Evan joined The Moby Dicks (2009). Paul and Martine started Myelin Sheaths (2009), and then Evan started Fist City. Paul started Radians (briefly) in 2010, until Paul and James changed James Leroy to Ketamines, and Paul stopped Radians to do Ketamines and got Martine, Evan and Jane to play too. Paul and Evan run Mammoth Cave Recording Co, Martine is the music director at CKXU, and Jane works as a "preparator" in an art gallery.

      THE LOST CAUSE (Kingston)
Three-piece fuzz organ-driven psych jams by local wizard G. Watson aka Mississippi Grover aka dude from Thorax aka mastermind of Orange Alabaster Mushroom, with Gord Mylks (Orange Alabaster Mushroom) on guitar and Chris Lyon (Owl Farm) on drums.

    • I'm trying to find out more about the Vancouver band called Wasted Lives. They had the song Wire Head (which I posted on my page for reference to this topic) on the Vancouver comp. I also think Marry Jo(e) from the Modernettes was in the band. Did they have any actual releases outside of the comp? Was the song "Wire Head" ever released as a single? Such a killer song, would like to hear more about/from them. Unfortunately google has been on no help.

    • Ah well- it's been cancelled! Sound guy's sick. We'll play soon enough.

    • May 8, 2012 8:15 AM CDT
    • Have a GREAT show!!!!

    • May 7, 2012 11:50 AM CDT
    • So, our show had three bands playing on Tuesday at This Aint Hollywood in Hamilton. The headliner got sent back at the Canadian border; the other band's drummer got sick and had to be hospitalized; so now, it's just us: the noble Savages. Our plan is to come out and play our fucking balls off for whoever shows up. We might even buy you a drink. So, if you're in the area and have nothing to do on Tuesday...

    • Hey...! We're a Toronto-area band!

      Where you guys playing?

    • May 7, 2012 11:48 AM CDT
    • Hi, I'll be visiting Montreal and Quebec City soon. I'm having a tough time finding clubs, bars, etc which cater to "raunchy, wild rock'n'roll, old and new... garage, psych, punk, surf, rockabilly, soul, R&B, and lo-fi, primitive trash."

Anyone know of such places or a website/blog?

The only listings I'm finding are for jazz (which is good) and dance/ hip hop.

      Thanks!
