    • My English is lame, I'm sorry, but if you don't mind, I'd like to share my experiences.
I guess it's a little different here in Brasil. Although I think the guitar player (a boy) and the drummer (a girl) get more groupies (girls) than me, I can say I have my (nice) share. I've noticed they are younger (I mean 17-25); they say all kinds of nice stuff about you and your band, they want to buy the record, the t-shirt, everything... I think, in my experience, older men are actually intimidated by women on stage.

    • shame, but what an innings!

he autographed my white telecaster in big black letters on my 21st birthday and i got to play on his guitar too (except i couldn't play the weird tuning)

    • Y'see it hits me even closer to home, as I met him many years ago. Nicest guy you'd ever know. His hands were so big that he could put his hand around my fist. I read his book a few years back. Very revealing. Anyway one of the Masters of Rock 'n'Roll has "left the building" which saddens me a bit, but Life must go on.
      Sigh!

    • Me neither, I dig the extra options and the more personal touch you can bring but I am finding it harder to talk to people about stuff unless I have them as friends.

    • At least this site has the option of photos, profiles etc.
The 'old' one was more or less just a bunch of names, and usually not someone's 'true' name either. One thing I don't miss (much) was the little one-on-one squabbles that would dominate some threads.

    • Hey if it sounds good, don't fuck with it! Most of what I posted previously is just stuff that most "Newbie Drummers" should learn. It all depends on where you wanna go. I can make low-buget drums sing with a little work (and some minor repair) and I am not even a drummer, just a studio geek. I know how to remove annoying squeeks, head rattles and other Mystery Noises. Nothing is hard and fast, if it works, then don't fuck with it.

    • OK I was off by year on the first performance of Igor Stravinski's "Rite of Spring" it was 1913 instead of 1914 (so my memory ain't as good as it used to be!) Here is a quote I found on-line about the opening night; "Backstage at the premiere, Nijinsky shouted at the dancers while Diaghilev tried to suppress a possible riot by flashing the house lights. Stravinsky himself fumed at the audience's response to his music. If nothing else, the ballet's premiere managed to instill in the audience the true spirit of the music. As Thomas Kelly states, "The pagans on-stage made pagans of the audience." Despite its inauspicious debut, Stravinsky's score for “The Rite of Spring” today stands as a magnificent musical masterpiece of the twentieth century." and from the same (yeah I know) NPR site; http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=88490677 and here is the Wikipedia version; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rite_of_Spring Like Jazz and later Rock 'n' Roll, folks just weren't ready for stuff like this and they just freaked out about it. It may be tame by our viewpoint, but it was shocking and scandalous at the time. The horror of WWI made all that stuff kinda pase. As far as writing influences go, try to find stuff you like within the stuff you like and incorporate those things you like into what you are already writing. It takes some time, but the end result can be really cool. You won't know until you try.
