    • Weird! In the article Mike posted i don't agree with "fortysomethings jumping around in Halloween outfits would, uh, “stain the brand” a bit." Ofcourse they should be in mummies outfits!! Hope they've still got it!!

    • Wow,that's cool! I didn't even know that was a Ricky Nelson song. I thought it was The Zombies. There's probably a good chance that that riff was in some earlier blues song.

    • Yep, a total rip. I'm glad they did though.

    • When I first heard this I thought it was one of them newfangled mash-up songs. It sounds like Ricky Nelson vs. The Blues Magoos. But it turns out, this version of "Summertime was recorded in 1962 -- four or five years before the Magoos' "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet." You ahe to wonder if they stole their famous riff from Ricky. I found this on the Crud Crud blog. The MP3 is HERE

    • I bought the Rumble/Swag 7" in the last couple of years for about 7 or 8 dollars. Norton is still selling the Jukebox series for 5 dollars a pop.

    • I couldn't for the life of me figure out what you meant by 'duke box series', until I realized it was a typo and you meant 'Juke Box Series'. These were the ones that were reissued by Norton in the 1990's, the tracks themselves were recorded for Swan in the 1960's.
I think they're probably still in print.

My advice to you: play the hell out of them, loud enough to annoy your neighbors. They're quite handy if you are a DJ too.

    • I just scored a whole suit case full of records and in there were 6 link wray 7''s.
All but 1 are from the "duke box series", all in mint condition with orig sleves (cept for that 1, rumble b/w I fought the law)
Anyhow... I dont think I will sell them but does anyone know if they are worth anything?
      Cheers

    • Want airplay in Santa Fe, NM?

Send me your CD (or good quality MP3s).

I have a weekly two-hour radio show, Terrell's Sound World, on KSFR, Santa Fe Public Radio. While it's not 100-percent garage/punk/psychedelic/surf, this kind of music definitely is the foundation of my show.

I've posted a lot of recent playlists in this very forum. You can see even more on my blog, http://steveterrell.blogspot.com/search/label/soundworld .

If you think your stuff belongs there, send your CD to
      KSFR ATT: Terrell's Sound World
      SFCC
      6401 S. Richards Ave.
      Santa Fe, NM 87508

or if it's MP3s contact me through the Hideout.

I can't promise airplay, but indicate on the package you saw this through the GaragePunk Hideout and I can promise I'll listen.

    • there's a great part in "End Of The Century", a documentary about the Ramones, in which they talk about playing London very early on and Joe Strummer, Johnny Rotten and others sort of weasled their way in to talk to them - this was before any of them had formed punk bands... anyways I'll have to catch it. I love documentaries.

    • All very interesting especially that he feels an affinity with the Dadaists( artists such as John Heartfield, George Grosz and many others) I can see that having read about them at college many moons ago.
