    • My beautiful daughter gave me not 1, not 2, but 3 volumes of WORLDBEATERS ('60s garage rock from all sorts of foreign countries -- lots of South American and European nations, a few from Asia, even Papua New Guinea) She gave me Vols. 5, 10 and 11. I already had Vols. 1 and 6.

    • I bought the self titled Unknowns record at the Pasadena record swap a few weeks ago when I got home I looked inside the sleeve there was the record along with another record that turned out to be the an original test pressing of the same record ( hit the swap meet lotto). I like the band but not enough to really care about the test pressing, I’m sure it’s worth something and seeing as I already have the record was wondering if there are any fans of this early 80’s cult band from San Diego? Have no interest in selling the test pressing but would be happy to trade for something I want for it. 3 records that come to mind are an original copy of Dennis Wilson Pacific Ocean Blue on the Caribou Label 1977 Bo Diddley’s Beach Party/ Checker records 1963 Wire Pink Flag/ Harvest Label 1977 But I’m open to any offer if anybody really wants this or is interested let me know.

    • Has anyone checked out Blip.fm (not to be confused with Blip.tv, which is a different company/service entirely) yet? It's a lot like Twitter, but you can actually post songs, DJ-style, for others to hear. And their database is pretty frickin' amazing. I've been finding a lot of stuff I've searched for, and some (like Mike Rep & the Quotas) is pretty damned obscure. Also, if you want your music featured there, read this: How do I get my music to show up in the search results? In a perfect world we would have every song from every band ever, and we’re working on that, but for now there’s a chance that your music isn’t in our database. If you have music that you would like to make available for others to blip, you can save URLs to music otherwise not hosted. First, create an account (or log in if you already have one), then click the “Settings” link in the top right corner and click “Music” (link: http://blip.fm/settings/music). From there you can enter in as many urls to songs as you would like and we’ll save them for you and they will be accessible from our search. If you are an artist or label and would like us to host your content (e.g., because your content isn’t hosted anywhere else), you can contact us at artists@blip.fm, providing your name and full contact information, as well as a list of the content you represent; requests will be considered on a case by case basis. NOTE: It’s a good idea to make sure the ID3 tags are in order, we plan to use them quite a bit. Here's me: http://blip.fm/kopper

It's worth watching....just don't get too caught up in the accuracy thing. It's entertainment, and they had to cover a lotttttt of material in a short time. Great Casting and Beyonce is bootylicious of course!!!!
Agreed....It's an entertaining flick but not a historical doc, kids...go into it with that in mind and it's almost 2 hours of good tunes and decent actin' (I did not dig Beyonce as Etta....she way over did it) Yeah the only thing that really bugged me was the lack of Phil Chess and how small a part Howlin' Wolf had in the flick (one of my all time fav Chess artists)

    • Thank you to those who have been helping me along in my quest to find more soulfully dirty bands like Samo and Captain Beefheart. send me more, and keep the search going; as i feel the importance of this passing scene is one worthy of recesutation. Also, does anyone know maybe more than me about this band... myspace.com/samo333 i'd like to hear some of their old records or more than what's available but haven't been able to contact either the band or label. thanks guys :)
