  Even if your not in a band, I'm curious to know what you think would be the best garage rock song to open a show with. It can be from any era, just pick one that will really set the mood for a rocking show. I'm hoping to find some songs I haven't heard yet. My pick is, DEVIL DOGS - BIG FUCKING PARTY!

  A Gories cover wouldn't hurt, like "Thunderbird esq" or "I Think Ive Had It". Both can be fairly improvisational.

  I usually open my own gigs with "You Better Believe It " by Donny B. Waugh. It's a statement of intent , set to a near - Rockabilly fuzztone riff. After that, things ,for me, sort of fall into place.

  Soul Inc. is probably the easiest to find but even THEY aren't the originators of Stronger than Dirt. That honor goes to Ajax and the Cleansers who recogonized that a commercial for Ajax soap was identical to the Kinks' You Really Got Me. One other sixties band did it as well. They were called Jimmy and the Offbeats.

  If a cover, I would choose a classical one, "Waiting for the man" by Lou Reed. But I´d prefer to play it at the end of the set. That´s only my opinion, Fikki.

  We always open our set with one of our own instrumentals. We only play one cover song per show, and it's always the last song we play. Each show we try to go with a different song, usually a '60s garage track like The Sorrows "No No No No" or 13th Floor Elevators "You're Gonna Miss Me."
