Jungle, monsters and stupid dances are amongst my ever favorite themes (and it seems there are millions and millions of songs related to these great philosophical themes).
And you still can check past and future episodes of the CALL OF WILD PIRATE RADIO show for more stupid themes...

Yeah so I'm in need of some ideas fer future Wild Wild Sound themes as I'm at a creative-block at the moment...here are past themes:
- Instrumentals
- Dance/Party Songs
- Songs about numbers or luck (this was a loose theme fer episode 7)
- Alcohol tunes
- Girl groups/garage
- Animal songs
- Tunes from 1966

There's always a GD hater (don't worry, you're not alone) amongst the troggies until they're reminded of what the early stuff sounded like (try Can't Come Down, Cream Puff War, King Bee or Smokestack). If you don't like them, you wouldn't have that on your playlist anyway so you're stuck with the rest of us. But, if you're going to do yourself in, guess it might as well be to their only hit song from the 80's.

i think it is "touch of grey" not "shades of." nah, I'm definitley not a hater. but i have listened to the "dead" enough to not care for them. but i'll check out what you recommended when i go dwn to X records today. Didn't the Professor come up with a way to recharge batteries to keep their radio running? Maybe you could apply the same technology (wasn't it Gilligan peddling on a crude bike attached to a generator of some kind?) to power your iPod, or your disc player. get yourself an alamo amp. or a gretsch bass amp, also a fender reverb unit & maybe some kind of tape echo like a copicat or echoplex.
get a harmony bobkat or silhouette guitar & your set

Only one disadvantage with having the pickups close to the strings is they can 'pull' the strings out of tune slightly due to the magnetic pull, but I dont seem to have had this problem yet......
What guitar do you use Joenzy? I find it works best on single coils, humbuckers get a bit 'heavy' but I guess it depends on the guitar, let me know what it sounds like...

yes thats a good point, 'hitting the strings hard' when you use a tube amp with a good overdrive pedal really effects the dynamics of the sound, gives a nice natural overdrive sound .Another cheap trick is to adjust your pickups to as near as you can to the strings, this will produce some good raw sounds too, then just hit an e chord and see what happens....... nah, you ain't gots to study that. studying music theory is subjective for me personally. even the Beatles weren't the best guitar players. it's what they did with what they had. arrangements and so on. what matters more than technicalities is in the art of your soul. you can play just one chord - but it's the way you play that chord. I'd listen to a guitar player that has heart and rawness and a certain amount of wild abandon over somebody that had a real slick sound and knows all the triads and what have yous. it's all about personal taste. just play, man. get lost. lose your mind. and hit those strings as hard as you can... croatoa said:

IMHO, Link's "Rumble" and the Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night". For that matter, just learn it all. Play along to your records (you can cheat by grabbing some online tabs, but be forewarned, they all are usually wrong in some way or another). If you don't want to waste time playing "stupid and boring stuff" then don't play stupid and boring stuff. Truth is, the best players know their scales enough to forget them. Not all the scales, just the major and blues scales -- don't want to scare you ; )

The Ette's debut Shake the Dust was much better. CoCo and Susanna Hoffs definitely sound a lot alike, but the bangles comparison is only relevant to their earliest material. Don't want anyone to think there is a power trio version of "Eternal Flame".

Also, Thatcher's Children is pretty great. All of Billy's bands haven't exactly evolved-- but the latest with the MBE does splash a little water on the old man's face.
