In my opinion the best Ty Segall tracks are on his records from <2010. Check out his S/t LP (2008), Horn The Unicorn (2009) and Lemons (2009) if you want a real treat that you just can't get from his newer stuff.

Also another up-and-comer that's getting really big is Thee Oh Sees. Their new album Putrifiers II just leaked and it rips pretty hard. I would definitely snag it when it releases early September and check out their albums from 2008 and 2009 as well. Really great stuff.

It sounds pretty cool, but I'd like to remix it so you can hear the drums.

Some have mentioned  - Ty Segall, very prolific, mostly low-fi, loud, fast and killer melodies. Cheap Freaks, Bury Them All. Trashy garage punkabilly/countryblues. Crampsy,surfy, psychedelic and with a 60's feel to it. Quite accessible and catchy yet GOOD and the album is inexpensive too.

A broader, more ecclectic range of new and exciting music you'd be hard pushed to find.

Ty S. was mentioned, so, on that note, check out the new Finnish all-female garage rawk outfit  The Splits (not to be confused with The Spits or the Slits)!

Their debut full length just came out on P. Trash, and are doing a few shows in Italy at the moment. Best albums of the year, Don't Fear is one of the best new songs I've heard in a looong time!

...sounds promising, never had the chance to see them on stage. well, here we often have to be more patient regarding 'new' bands from Canada or the US, of course.

That's who I thought of, too. Saw them open for Shonen Knife about two years ago, amazing what two guys can do.
