One good thing about it is they have a "Early Influence" inductee section... Which would avoid arguments about whether Bo or Link are punk or not... Hallelujah!

Yeh hes really not in there... The Bee-Gees are however... And Bob Marley... I think if the RnR hall of fame is anything to go by we should really stop worrying about whether its garage punk or not and just put anything in... For the first inductee to the garage punk hall of fame I nominate abba...

How about a Hall Of Fame for clueless Hall Of Fames that would pass over someone like Link Wray?

I think Bo's already in the RnR hall of fame anyway... Can ye double induct people into halls? Maybe rather than a garage Punk hall of fame there should be a hall for musicians the other halls are to square to put in! Hasil adkins, nervous norvus... The Hall of who the fucks that guy! Actualy I think even link wray isn't in the RNR hall of fame... what an ommission!

      Uh, I'm getting a headache.
Everybody here has their own idea about what constitutes "garagepunk" and which bands represent that musical concept to them. Sometimes there seems to be too much emphasis on the "punk" aspect of "garagepunk".
Let the music do the talking.

At this point, I would have to say no...not to you. But to me, Bo Diddley is much more worthy (maybe in the "Founding Fathers" or "Huge Influence" section of the "Garagepunk Hall Of Fame") of inclusion than 99% of new bands that call themselves "garagepunk". Why don't you ask Billy Childish if Bo Diddley is garagepunk or Garagepunk Hall of Fame worthy? Garage Punk Hall Of Fame...gosh, I don't think it's real...I think this is a hypothetical question. Maybe people's responses are dictated by the year they were born and their personal experiences.

i dunno...i guess we have different ideas about what constitutes punk. THAT is the key word here - "garage PUNK hall of fame" not garage hall of fame - throw in that punk word & it's a whole other ball game. i know - can't have one without the other...i'm tired . out. Marko's Garage Gig said:
I agree, this discussion may have gone out. I wanted to point that out, but got a little soft on the approach. 60's Garage Punk, would you say is US based? I lean that way. Then came bands like The Stomachmouths and many others from all over the world following that glorious period of 1963-1967 in Garage Punk that I love.

i just want to add one more thing and then i'm done here- i thought this was garage PUNK hall of fame. these are all good/great artists, but some of them miss the mark. i love link wray, can't deny his contribution, but he's not garage PUNK. i mean, am i taking this too literally?

I have a liking to so much music. Some is considered "Garage" to many. From the Dutch comes Q65, Outsiders, and The RO D YS (roadies), and Beat Music such as The Zipps were great! So much of America was close to Euro Freakbeat and British Beat and Mod music to go around.

But two bands set me off forever after a first listen in 1965 - The KInks and The Sonics. After that I was never the same.

20 years later I met and still know The Cynics. Still fantastic with the nucleus of Gregg and Michael. Some of their best friends has not been mentioned yet. The Sound Explosion from Greece, along with The Sick Rose stand tall in the Garage music history.

In 1989 I saw The Cynics one week, The Fluid the next week, then Thee Headcoats after that. I am still not the same since..Amazing shit!
