Headcoats reunion! When's the last time Billy came across the pond to the US? And yes, there's no way he should be omitted. After seeing last night's spontaneous Headcoats reunion, yes, Billy Childish has got to be at the top of the list! (And the Cynics were, indeed, totally amazing here last Thursday. As well as, like Billy, having been making great garage punk sounds since before some of their audience were born.)

You know the Sonics? lol)

The song is credited to Ben DiTosti (west coast pianist) and M. Alton, who I couldn't find any info on. Anyway, I think the Standells were the first to record it. Their Dirty Water Lp came out in '66 I think. The Chocolate Watchband's Inner Mystique came out in '68. Both groups were managed by Ed Cobb, who also penned songs for both too. He most likely suggested the Watchband "cover it". Maybe it shouldn't be on the list...Dead Boys version of Little Girl is also good... wait, Medication was a cover??

Personally I think The Pandoras "Hot Generation" takes the cake. But, I'll offer some other suggestions too. 5 others in no particular order... Chocolate Watchband - I'm No Like Everybody Else (and honorable mentions for "It's All Over Now Baby Blue", "Medication", and "I Ain't No Miracle Worler") Misunderstood - I'm Not Talking The Avengers - Paint It Black (hope that's not to obvious) The Damned - I Feel Alright Dead Boys - Tell Me (say what you will about We Have Come For your Children)

Yeah, I heard from Tim finally. He said they're trying to keep this on the down low for the time being in case they have to bail on it. That means they have to raise enough money by selling ads in the fest program to raise money for plain tickets, etc. Oh yeah, and unfortunately, the Devil Dogs won't be playing. Fingers crossed, kopper

I agree more with the King khan &BBQ record and almost all the records of the Black lips... So good so fine..
and personal favorite's of mine are also:
King Automatic - Automatic ray ,
Demon's claws - satan's little pet pig,
Fumestones - 5'er than ever,
Jeffrey novak's one man band - southern trash,
tokyo electron - tokyo electron,
the reatards - teenage hate
digital leather - monologue!!!!!!!!
Cheveu - Cheveu
to mutch to write all the fucking neat bands with great albums.. but these are my hero's

Brimstone Howl's new record We Came In Peace is definitely worth hearing. There's a Cynics-esque Denver local band called The Omens that put out a killer full-length in '05, Destroy The ESP The Omens on Myspace
August 21, 2008 8:27 PM CDT
Fuck!
I think the 2000s have been great musically speaking:
Anything by livefastdie is fucking great! Bandana Thrash is the full length, but the 7"ers are great, too...and there's a lot of them.
King Khan w/ the Shrines is good (as is King Khan BBQ Show)--What Is!?!? continues to blow my mind.
Deadly Snakes: Ode to Joy and Porcella are both classics
Digger and the Pussycats: Young, Tight, and Alright; Watch yer Back; Let's go to the Hospital--stripped down rock n roll
I'm sure there's more...the 2000s have been a solid decade for rocknroll!!!!

King Khan & BBQ should definitely not have been omitted.I agree with Black Lips Let it Bloom. Excellent album, their best in my opinion. Also, anything by The King Khan and BBQ Show. They have two LP's that are good. One more, Midnight World by Black Time. All three bands are or were at one time on In the Red Records. That label puts out a bunch of good shit...

...yes, I agree with you, alla the records you wrote are great, but in my opinion are not "classics"...for example I prefer the collins' production pre-dirtbombs (gories / blacktop / king sound quartet )...ok maybe it's my problem...
August 20, 2008 1:31 PM CDT
Well the Black Lips - Let It Bloom came out in 2005 and Their debut Self Titled ('03). Both killer records. I don't know if you were only interested in records that came out in 2000, but there's been some good stuff: The Reigning Sound's Time Bomb High School ('02) and Too Much Guitar ('04). Coachwhips' Double Death ('06). The Dirtbombs' Ultraglide In Black ('01) & Dangerous Magical Noise ('03). Hipshakes' Shake Their Hips ('07) (or at least I think the 2nd side of the record is great.) There's plenty more I can't think of at the moment...

I've found this site very helpful in similar situations. Great magazine too. If the conflict has anything to do with a hidden track on the Vol. 1 LP, I've been there.Actually, I need some help. Does anyone know a site that has a track list for these compilations? Because I'm seeing some conflicting information floating around and it's getting impossible to keep track of.

Oh yeah, saw this on the proboards forum. Great pics! Thanks for sharing.
