There were SO MANY great records released back then, it's hard to remember them all...here's a few off the top of my head that i still dig to this day:
The Saints...Stranded...ya, Lost Soul mentioned it as well. it's killer from top to bottom. The Vibrators....Pure Mania....so many songs and all good. Wire....Pink Flag.....like above Siouxsie and The Banshees....The Scream....killer guitar sound. Teenage Head....First Album....rockabilly on speed. The Cramps....Songs The Lord Taught Us....liked Psychedelic Jungle even more, but it's from 1981 X Ray Spex....Germ Free Adolescence....buzzsaw guitar all of The Ramones LP's within the time period. The Dead Boys....Young Loud and Snotty. The Pebbles compilation series....those records opened up a ton of doors for me....

    • Has anyone mentioned The Lurkers - "Fulham Fallout"? If not, I can't believe no-one has!
Also - Slaughter and the Dogs - "Do It Dog Style" or "Live at the factory"

Great to see so many are into the Rezillos too.

My first "punk" single was the Pork Dukes - "Makin Bacon", very un-pc!
First album was The Ramones "Rocket to Russia"
Then The Stranglers "No More Heroes"

    • Former Mothers of Invention drummer and "Indian of the Group" Jimmy Carl Black died of leukemia in Germany on Nov. 1. I knew him when he lived in New Mexico back in the '80s. He drummed on one of my songs back in '81. I wrote about him here: http://steveterrell.blogspot.com/2008/11/rip-jimmy-carl-black.html Here's a picture of Jimmy and my son when we saw "The Jim & Jack Show" in Albuquerque last year. • i dunno...i guess we have different ideas about what constitutes punk. THAT is the key word here - "garage PUNK hall of fame" not garage hall of fame - throw in that punk word & it's a whole other ball game. i know - can't have one without the other...i'm tired . out. I agree, this discussion may have gone out. I wanted to point that out, but got a little soft on the approach. 60's Garage Punk, would you say is US based? I lean that way. Then came bands like The Stomachmouths and many others from all over the world following that glorious period of 1963-1967 in Garage Punk that I love.

i just want to add one more thing and then i'm done here- i thought this was garage PUNK hall of fame. these are all good/great artists, but some of them miss the mark. i love link wray, can't deny his contribution, but he's not garage PUNK. i mean, am i taking this too literally?

    • http://www.nervebreakers.com/mp3.htm This is a link to a site for a Dallas band called the Nervebreakers. You can listen to a live show that pretty much sums them up, but it doesn't seem to be in the correct order for some reason. They were a pretty cool band and they opened for the Pistols when they played the Longhorn Ballroom during their infamous US tour.

    • From the Nathaniel Mayer's myspace page: R.I.P. Nathaniel Mayer 1944-2008 It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our dear friend Nathaniel Mayer. After many months of complications and illnesses following a series of strokes, Nathaniel left us November 1, 2008. He will always be in our hearts. As soon as funeral arrangements have been made we will post the information here. I had the great pleasure to enjoy his awesome gig at the Funtastic Dracula Carnival in Valencia, Spain, in 2005. I met him also during the weekend and he was a great, fun guy. He partied along as anyone else from the crowd. He'll be sadly missed. Love and affection (not the house of correction!)

    • Wierd on the 3 Volts power supply. Does it have a 'Wall Wart" Adapter socket or not?

It may use a Germanium Transistor which lots of the older Fuzz units used. The unit the Stones used on "Satisfaction" was a Gibson Maestro fuss pedal. Those are pretty easy circuits to copy.

    • "Do you care, but believe that your comments don't matter much?"

Yes. The shows get recorded, then aired~ we listen, dance, enjoy and preserve the better ones. Any music "suggestions" I'd have aren't likely to fit in a GaragePunk box. But- back to the question, this comment doesn't matter much.

    • maybe they don't have anything to say......

    • well, i listen to all the podcasts at work and REALLY dig them all .but most of the time there is no time to leave comments, or for my part to say that a job is well done, is really pointless, you know what you do(a great job that is!).I know that most of my friends in greece also listen to most of the podcasts, but we never leave a comment. i never thought it would be frustrating...sorry. but as a listener to podcasts, i was led to the hideout!
and now that i am thinking of it, i guess it would be nice to get all the moral support possible...

    • From Japan, the Surf Coasters (guitarist can do Dick Dale like nobody's business) and the Whys (love the grass skirts).
From South of the Border, Sr. Bikini and Los Elaticos. (Side note: What's with South American Surf bands and Luchadore masks? Is there a reason? Am I missing a cultural connection?)
From the US: the Sir Finks, Satan's Pilgrims and the Volcanos.

Special plug to my hometown faves the Diamondheads and the Atomic Mosquitos!!!

AND, while they are NOT a surf guitar band, Southern Culture on the Skids always includes an original instrumental number on albums and shows that never fails to please.
