7. Dave Campbell....My Way...from the Finding The Real CD. London based artist who recorded this CD by himself in his home studio.
Right around this time, Rupert Orton, guitarist for The Jim Jones Revue, called in to talk about the big show that was happening at Call The Office, here in London. The band was in transit from Chicago, fighting weather on the highway. Then Jim Jones came on to talk a bit....Thanx to The Jim Jones Revue for making the time to talk on Radio WW!
8. Jim Jones Revue....High Horse...from the Burning Your House Down LP.
9. Jim Jones Revue...Foghorn....as above

Radio What Wave Playlist, Jan 9th 2014
1. Evil Farm Children....Hangover....from the Evilling CD from 2008. This was going to be the opener for our post New Years show on Jan 2nd, which didn't happen due to complications.
2. Hurricane and Able....Who's That Girl....from The Last Temptation download. Hurricane and Able make their live debut Saturday at Wrongbar in Toronto. It's a half London/Toronto combo who will hopefully bring the show to London if all goes well at this debut show.
3. Dynamite Pussy Club...Nutbush City Limits....recent demo this UK combo sent us. They also did a Radio WW Session just over a year ago and have our seal of approval.

Picked this up at Grooves Records here in London, it was a freebie with the fliers up at the front of the store. This was the world radio premier for this CD.
7. Faces....Pool Hall Richard....from their Greatest Hits CD. This kinda reminds me of Dave Campbell, the track prior.

12. The Mogs....Run Like Hell....from the about to be released CD from this Hamilton based 3 piece. There's a London Ontario connection here, with singer/guitarist/sometime bassist Rob Munro, who was in London combos Frankenstein 5, The Mood and Scratching Post. IT'S VERY SAD.

Has this band ever had a proper interview/history published anywhere? I've become kind of obsessed with the song and the band itself as of late, and have turned up nothing but brief liners on "Pebbles Vol. 6" and a photo on the old G45 Central forum.
Pretty wild! Can't wait.
Could this be their big break? (i'm only half kidding.)
Check this out: http://get-action.net/
All the albums I've seen posted so far are great! Many of them my absolute favourites. Anyone mentioned Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables yet? 1980 so it just makes the cut. Love that album. Personally I think this 'first era' started a bit earlier than '76 though... Can we count Kick Out The Jams as early punk?
That was one of those shows where his best friend's band blew the headliner off the stage.
Very sad , about Grimshaw. His use of color and imagery was comparable to , yet far removed from , San Francisco's better - known poster artists of the day. He was able to take the same approach , without becoming archaic , into the future ( The cover art for Iggy Pop's "Instinct" would be one of his better - known later pieces.). I'd say his influence has been felt more in Detroit's own Mark Arminski than Kozik or Coop , but , I think it reached a lot of Artists from many different fields......
This is sad news. From the Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20140113/OBITUARIES/301130096/Detroit-rock-poster-artist-Grimshaw-dies-67?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CFRONTPAGE%7Cp
Share your favourite Grimshaw images on this thread. Here's one he did for a Cream gig at the Grande Ballroom.
.....THE PEOPLE WRITING THESE ADS FOR THE FILM , OR EVEN THAT NEW CAR COMMERCIAL WITH ACTORS PLAYING THE RAMONES' FEET , NEED TO REALIZE , WHAT CREDIT ?! IF AND WHEN THE RAMONES GOT THEIR JUST DUE , IT WAS NOT AS LONG AGO WAS PEOPLE SEEN TO THINK. IN THE 80'S AND 90'S , IT WAS'NT COOL TO LIKE THE RAMONES AT ALL. THEY BREAK UP , KEY MEMBERS START DYING , "OH , YEAH ! THE RAMONES STARTED IT ALL ! LET'S INDUCT THEM IN THE ROCK 'N'ROLL HALL OF FAME , AND NOT GIVE JOEY'S MOM AND BROTHER HIS AWARD."...THE RAMONES BEGAN , IN EARNEST , IN 1974. DEATH STARTED OUT , WHEN , IN '73 ? NOT SO MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE IN TIMES. DEATH MANAGED TO TAKE SOME MAINSTREAM ROCK INFLUENCES , COMBINE THEM WITH DETROIT STANDBYS , THE STOOGES , MC5 , AND THE ALICE COOPER GROUP , AND COME UP WITH AN UNCONSCIOUS PRECURSOR TO TEH NEW YORK PUNK SOUND. HAD TEHY MOVED TO NEW YORK , THEY MIGHT HAVE FOUND THEIR WAY. IN DETROIT , A BLACK BAND PLAYING INTENSE HARD ROCK MUSIC MET WITH AS MUCH RESISTANCE , OR MORE , FROM THEIR OWN , AS THE AVERAGE WHITE ROCKER. NEW YORK HAD THE PLANETS , NEON LEON , DIG WAYNE , PURE HELL , IVAN JULIAN , BARRY JONES , BLAQUE , JEAN BEAUVOIR , AND A RELOCATED BAD BRAINS , WHO , INITIALLY , DEATH WERE BEING COMPARED TO , TO THE DEGREE THAT IT WAS SAID BAD BRAINS MIMICKED DEATH , WHEN IT WAS NIGH ON IMPOSSIBLE THEY'D EVER HEARD THEIR 45. A LOT OF BANDS DID'NT KNOW HOW WELL THEY'D HAVE DONE IN NEW YORK.....UNLESS THEY TRIED.
