Fast Cars!
Hey, check out this swedish 80's garage/powerpop band: The Bangsters. They got signed to the French label New Rose in '84 who were so impressed with their demo that they released it just the way it was, no sugar added. The band features swedish hardcore punk pioneer Rolf Revålt on drums.
I'm glad Die Wasted brought up the Biters. Great band! Other faves: The Decibels, The Blades, The (Paul Collins) Beat, The Records, & The Fabulous Poodles.
Saw this band live for the first time the other night. Absolutely awesome! Not just the music but what a great show this band put on. I couldn't see the drummer but the other members were all really animated. Sometimes you see a band live and and all the attention is focussed on the singer - not these chaps, they all earnt their money! And t-shirts only a tenner to boot!
Are you talking about the record Brian Jones did in Morocco? That is weird stuff haha..
I have been listening last days to a african band from zambia called CHRISSY ZEBBY TEMBO & NGOZI FAMILY.
Very nice fuzzy groove from mid 70's.. Reminds me of Brant Bjork vs The Clash or somethink...
Yeah, someone posted Cazumbi earlier in the post, what a KILLER collection that is! I played some tracks on Sonic Nightmares soon after. In fact I played quite a few tips on the show since the posts!
@ Axel... Dátar and this song "Kling Klang" is very groovy!!
Happy to see this thread revived. I've been listening to Brian Jones - presents the pipes of pan at jajouka. It's a record he compiled hoping to inspire the Rolling Stones, but we all know how that story ended up.

Beautiful.....
No problem - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Rwanda-billy? Sounds great - I want to hear some - I'm a fan of a lot of ..billy.

punk musician is an oxymoron! yours respectfully, a non-musician.
I played the Italia. It played pretty well straight outta the box and played/sounded fantastic after a setup. I never played an Eastwood so I can't comment.
as far as eastwood goes, our guitarist has a 6 string model and it totally kicks ass!no info on the 12 models though...
I'm shopping around and wanted feedback / tips on things to watch for. I really don't like buying a guitar (especially used) online but it seems like nobody carries them for me to compare. I don't want to spend $1000 and end up with something less than perfect in every way, shape, and form.
Has anyone played an Italia Rimini 12 http://www.italiaguitars.com/guitarDetail_outer.php?thisGuitarId=18
How about an Eastwood Classic 12 or Nashville 12 http://www.eastwoodguitars.com/
I've always wanted to hit Gonerfest...who played?
I never went either. I never used to believe in regrets... I went to my first Gonerfest this past year and I'm kicking myself for missing the earlier ones, especially since it's relatively close to me. SXSW seems too overblown at this point but I'm sure there are plenty of great bands playing on the fringes. I'm keeping my ear to the ground for stuff like Sleazefest.
Ha! The closest I would get to starting up something like that would be something locally, and it would just be a few punk bands around...I would have better luck in Norfolk, though...And that probably wouldn't be too hard...I do know enough people from such bands as the Strap Ons, the Villains, Trauma Dolls, Hydeouts, thee Apostles, Sleaze Stacks, and more... Hmmm....And if I was able to throw something together there, I would have plenty of help...And it wouldn't be that hard to get Larry May down, too...
Elvisfest? Haha!
Never been to a Sleazefest, either. Although I know people here in St. Louis that went to a few. You should start it up again, Joey!
After a long hiatus I've restarted my blog 'The Mystery Plane' (www.mysteryplane.blogspot.com).
It's jam-packed with garage/surf/rock'n'roll and trash goodness!
check it out (pretty please!)
Andy
Well, the Black Lips were influenced by hordes of bands that preceded them, dating back to the '60s with stuff like the Back From the Grave comps (Keggs stands out in my mind), not to mention Pebbles, Teenage Shutdown, etc., plus other bands like the Seeds, 13th Floor Elevators, Stooges, and probably '70s bands like Pagans, Gizmos, '80s stuff like (early) Dwarves, Germs, Cynics, and, of course, the Mummies. There've been quite a number of imitators in recent years that are pretty good, too.
Has anyone else heard the song "Not a Problem" by Black Lips?

great song in my opinion.
Anyways, i started looking around for other songs like this - songs that has like the same sound that has the same sound as 'Not a Problem''s refrain, without any luck.
Is there anyone else who likes theese types of song?
Is there anyone who have any songs to recommend that has the same "style" as Not a Problem?
Thanks yo!
