Oh geez...I saw these fella's play last year with the Prmitivas and a couple of other bands at the pre-party gig for Budget Rock. They played at The Eagle Tavern, San Francisco's legendary leather bear bar...it was...a trip?
Actually, it was pretty cool as the Eagle regularly hosts Thursday Night Live, with such bands as Thee Oh Sees, the Fresh & Onlys, Mayyors, Hunx and his Punx, etc., during which most of the regular clientele pretty much skips out and the place fills in with scene kids digging these fun bands. It was still a trip though, the inside of the Eagle is really...interesting...whatever floats yer boat, but yeah it was different, fer sure.

after listening to the chorus now I recognize that commercial.
May 25, 2010 11:22 AM CDT
I was mindlessly watching TV last night (I think it was MSNBC) when I saw a Lenscrafters commercial come on that was using a Hunx & His Punx song. I thought I was dreaming, so I went back and watched it again (thank god for DVR) and yup, sure enough, Hunx & His Punx!
Pretty sure it was this song:
Can't find the commercial on the Web, though. Anyone else?

Grinding isn't dancing though, unless you consider lapdancing dancing. Maybe kids today aren't going to bother with cool sixties styles (by the way, those Land of 1000 Dances sound like they'll be great) but maybe showing Grease and Footloose to teenagers isn't a bad idea. The problem though is that they don't want to listen to anything besides monotonous Jay-Z music. DammitDave said:
Schools banning lesbians and grinding!?! Have we learned nothing from Footloose? Actually I've never seen it. Maybe it's closer to Dirty Dancing? Flashdance? Fame...umm...Some Kind Of Wonderful? All not seen by me so I'm taking wild guesses here.

i tottally understand, and perscribe to that view. but you made realized what i was really talking about. there is a moment in life, specially when we are very young, and you haven't listened or seen so many stuff, and you can trully think somethings as amazing and the best ever. i still remember what i used to think was the best guitar player, or the best riff, the best five seconds in a song, etc because there is sort of a mythological feeling around those people and those sounds that makes you feel that those minutes were just untouchable.

I can't pick my favorite band, album, song, or even genre. I've never been able to do that. It's just too difficult and I don't view music in that way. Every day can be different, every mood can produce a different result. One song can be perfect for one situation or instance but terrible for another. It's like asking what your favorite food or movie is. If you can seriously narrow it down to just one, then you're not living life to the fullest. That's my two cents, anyway.
