Saw then open for X in Santa Fe a couple of years ago. They were great.
Oh YESSS!! I love them too!! Great stuff! :D
I discovered this cool band a few years ago and simply LOVE them... I can't stop listening to their records. I think Rachel Nagy has a smokin' hot, super sexy voice! Who else digs this band?
F me: Avril Lavigne
F you: Exene Cervenka
F me: Katy Perry
F you: Joan Jett
Fu*k Me: Christina Aguilera
Fu*k You: Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre)
I once heard Chrissie Hynde say something in an interview that went a little like this:
"In rock music, as a woman artist... it's not all about fu*k me... it's all about fu*k you!"
I found this comment to be quite poignant and have had many discussions with friends regarding it. We have divided woman musicians into two distinct camps... the fu*k me's... and the fu*k you's. Obviously, Chrissie Hynde is in the fu*k you camp. A "musician" (and I use the term loosely) in the fu*k me camp would be someone like Britney Spears... you know, one of those packaged singers put together by the industry. So, let's make a list here... I will start:
Fu*k Me: Debbie Harry (Blondie)
Fu*k You: Rachel Nagy (Detroit Cobras)
I know Debbie Harry was not a packaged product... and I love her band... but I had a HUGE crush on her back in high school!
Check out "We Never Learn", I enjoyed it a lot . The timeline is 1988-2001, good bands, fast read.
Does anyone have suggestions for a good garage punk book?
Here's a Kinks video from the Midnight Special (1974)... this rocks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_BGU4RdZGE

2720 Cherokee - never been there. I might be able to swing that. Thanks for the heads up, Ryan. Keep me in mind if there are other regional fests in the future that you're debating about. With a little forethought, I can get involved. This one snuck up on me since I was entangled with the Shanks tour/Gonerfest.
Hey Dave, KK/Shrines along w/ Gentlemen Jesse will be playing St. Louis Sunday night. Maybe you can catch them then?

I know several people who have lived in Lawrence and testify to it's coolness. I'd love to go to this but can't due to circumstances. I missed seeing the Lamps and Thee Oh Sees at Goner and would like to catch Tyvek and KK & the Shrines. I got the fever but I'm quarantined.

ratoonie said:sorry * but the Stones and the Who have absolutly nothing in common!!!!!

Just to digress a little I've been told by a member of Derek's Accent that their music style was heavily based on The Who. Makes sense when you think about it!
