And yeah, I know all about the "benefits" of owning a smart phone, but frankly, I don't care. I survived just fine for 45 years without it. And my wallet likes the extra money from not having to pay for text messaging or data plans every month. But that's just me.

The First Four Years (containing all of the early EPs) and of course Damaged are both classics in their own right, but besides the title track of My War, I can't stand anything that Rollins' Black Flag released afterward.

I love nearly everything released by The Ziggens. Way better in my opinion than their much better known labelmates Sublime.

Nick Tosches is possibly my favourite r'n'r writer and this book kicks every others arse.

He writes like r'n'r- exciting, fast moving, dirty, full of lies, half-truths and tall tales, and he makes me laugh like a drain. The story about Louis Prima catching the mafia henchman doing the dirty with his girlfriend and how Louis got his attention is a definite highpoint.

if you love rock'n'roll, you should read this book.

I've read Please Kill Me.  It's a great book.  Anyone read Henry Rollins' 'Get In The Van'?  It's a good read too.

I really like Tad, The Chemistry Sets, Clown Alley, Seaweed, Blood Circus, Mudhoney, Jesse Bernstein, Dickless, Screaming Trees (although they're somewhat mainstream), Mother Love Bone (same because of their appearance on the Singles OST), Babes in Toyland, and L7.

The Ready Men - Shortnin' Bread and the aforementioned Swamp Rats - Psycho.

Agreed! I love their version of the Sonics' "Psycho" from Back from the Grave as well!

I didn't realize she was so pretty.  Not one of my faves but definitely did some interesting stuff.

1. Iggy Pop in 2001.  a small venue, too! Iggy commanded the energy in the entire place like Ive never seen before, he was like 54 years old or something...so animalistic and wild

2. Bad Brains in 2009, a truly out of this world experience, even though it was at a big festival. H.R. was in a trance and chanting things into the mic.He wore a white suit with a chest protector or a bullet proof vest or something.

3. Ian MacKaye, 2005 at this donations-only diy warehouse.  Amy Farina played drums and Ian played electric guitar. He joked with us and talked, reminding us to appreciate the friendly diy scene we have in Jax,FL.  I swear when they were done, everybody got in a single-file line to take turns shaking Ian's hand and having their own short chat with Ian.  He talked with everyone of us, if not for a few seconds. I've never seen anything like that.

 

 

really lookin forward to seeing the line up - it's looking like we will start our US vacation with the Shakedown and finish with the Norton shindig !
