OK, what's up with this band? They actually sound like they may be pretty good live... but this AM radio-style filter that they have going on over the music is just terrible. It doesn't even sound like it's tuned into the station! Like it's just a bit off. I don't get it.
I hope this isn't some kinda new trend...

I heard Link poked holes in his speakers with a pencil to get that airy distort...however the mood strikes, you just gotta listen.
enz
PS stop using effects and just hear the room. Or destroy your equipment.

I would highly recommend myself for exactly this sound you're looking for. I have a studio made for rock and roll in Brooklyn.

I highly recommend Hideout member Fran Ashcroft, the guy responsible for the excellent mastering of the Hideout Comp Series!

Who are these people who are mixing and mastering records like people should master rock n roll records? Not like these morans who are mixing and over compress everything in the music?
Do you have an idea?
Here are some bands with this very nice retro smooth sound..
I'm curious...

We've been using the MicroKorg XL. It's really cheap and although it's probably not the exact same sound it's close enough. Downsides are: I think we had to download the Farfisa sound from somewhere on the Korg website and it doesn't have a lot of octaves.

Not really too horriblely incorrect, but its still slightly racist seeing that they laugh at him and its an accent. Love the song though.
This one is amazing. Strippers, believe it or not, hate this song if Djed in their club. Seems a little more produced that my LP version however.

Anytime I see a topic like this I always respond the same way: Listen closely to the song and figure out the words you can, then make up the rest. You don't need "definitive lyrics." This is rock'n'roll, it shouldn't be paint-by-numbers/follow the instructions to a "T." No one's going to care if you mess up a word here or a line there. In fact, I bet no one would even notice! Besides, I think it's better if you do! Makes the cover more your own.
