    • Why do only teenagers get to have 'angst?'  Try being nearly 48, portly(not fat!) have two kids, a mortgage, bills, a car and a Lambretta to run, a job and then trying to keep up to date with new records and trying to see bands as well! Stick a divorce in the middle of all that as well!! Teenage angst? can I fit in a third wank before falling out of bed and playing xbox all day! Teenage fuckin' angst!! As im over 30 im off to sell all my records and start listening to Phil Collins and Simply Red or whatever shit that masquerades as music that graces the CD players of the over 30s these days!

nobody ever told all the old blues players to give it up when they got old, and there aint any angstier music than the blues! Is angstier even a word, who cares, im old!

smiley face, as im too old to do one on the keyboard! laugh out loud!

    • I agree with you about the Oblivians ...  also wanted to mention that I stumbled across the archives to your Wayback Machine radio show ... already discovered some bands I was not aware of (like the Peelers) and since I'm from Boston, loved hearing DMZ and LaPeste

    • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! If someone told Gelato Beijing , formerly of The Dead Kennedys , that he was not "P.C." , THERE'D BE HELL TO PAY.

I heard Bobby Brown WENT down to his ex-wife's funeral and left early to do a show. We should all live to , let's just say ,  AID in their spouses' deterioration (As for either one's music , SUCKS. But , you knew that.) , and answer to no one when we bail on their funeral before millions viewing it on TV...Or , Jesse Jackson , reading a magazine.
I had a friend in Jr. High , we would act out the words to "TITTIES AND BEER" before Art class. Who would have guessed that voice , like Screamin' Jay Hawkins with two sets of balls, was really .....Terry Bozzio.

    • Plus, it's pretty crazy what sticks as NO PC in "our lands of all is possible." Even a square suit will drop the corporate armor and drink, fight, fuck when all is paid for and there are no witnesses that could leave spots on their white wes - natch!

It was crazy hearing about the bands being chased in Iran (was it Metal bands? Pop even? I can't remember.... there was a couple of these news, even outside of that Vice TV "journalism"), just for playing a rock kind of sound that was too reminiscent of quasi western ideas. And those were all boys.

Imagine what kind of shit would go down, if you had a girl trash band in a place like that. That's what I call some goddamn moxy! Don't know about you, but I don't know if I would be up for that kind of crazy myself!

Not to say that the ladies don't get enough shit from donkheads around here, too. Well, you'll find shitbags all over the place.

    •  Yes , This is REALLY sad. Like a lot of you , I did see the DKT/MC5 tour in 2004 , which was a Mark Arm and an Evan Dando short of Rock'n'Roll Manna From Heaven  (Arm tried , I'll give him that.).... I met Michael Davis a little earlier than that when he came through and played here with a local band from Arizona (Whose name I've forgotten.). Michael was very friendly and very accessible . We had a nice talk about music and just day to day stuff. He even gave me his (previous) address , well , there was an incentive , as my ex had a sweet collection of Grande Ballroom handbills , and I told him we'd get color copies to him.  I told him I did'nt yet have e- mail , and , he said , "COME ON , JOHN ! JOIN THE 21st CENTURY!".

But Michael's beyond this century , beyond the roof of this world ....Leaving the solar system , leaving , leaving......and we'll miss him.

    • What rotten timing to check out on a weekend with the entertainment press still obsessing on Whitney.

Does that mean there are two left?  Naturally, Iggy Pop is probably still as healthy as a horse.  Go figure.

    • Thanks for the info Dave ... it's funny how you can hear a song that sticks in your mind but you can't quite remember the band name, and then all of a sudden something gets posted on this site and all of a sudden not only do I get the band's name, I also get a link to buy the album .. I love this site!!!

    • The only song I was familiar with was Long Gone, which reminded me of DMZ, so when you mentioned Peter Greenberg, that made lots of sense. I just went on the Customs My Space page and liked all 4 songs, so I'll need to look into them more. I got to see DMZ a few times; sorry I never got to see the Customs. Is the Long Gone LP still available anywhere?

    • They're pretty cool. My buddy has one. They sound good with a little set up. They carry them at Truetone Music in Santa Monica CA if anyone is trying to get hold of one. Not sure of the price.

Have you looked at www.phantomguitars.com?  More reasonable than the actual Vox guitars.  I've never heard one, but you might check out youtube.  Also keep an eye on ebay.  There's currently a teardrop shape guitar for $299.

    • That's so cool! We just played in Tijuana a couple of weeks ago, it was cool but I wish I could have tracked these guys down!

Hello ladies! well, I'm not in a band, but here's the link of a band from Tijuana (México) that has a kick ass female drumer, although the lead singer is a man, she really gives them a lot of presence, I love the way they look on the stage, they play some sort of psychobilly-rockabilly stuff. Keep rocking babes!

    • I know right? Line ups like this is what always had me lookin at the bill, thinking: "Dang, I got to jump a plane!" I like that they bring everyone together. All the souls singers they featured - it's just nice to see them get a spotlight again.

      John Battles said:

HA HA , exactly. I admit , I did'nt go , last year ,because the line up was pretty lame....You're right , I hope they do come back  all guns a - blazin' , next year. For years , it was the strongest Garage fest that is'nt even a Garage fest. First time I went , they had The Wailers , Zakary Thaks , Kenny and The Kasuals , Alarm Clocks  and Bad Roads (Who , sadly , were pretty lame.). John.

      Argh!

But let them catch their breath and come back full force next year! I like hearing about that stuff they got coming up this year - finally a "R'N'R hall of fame kind of thing" that doesn't smell! ;)
