More Completely Useless Remakes: Halloween (2007) Dimension

  • D/S/P: Rob Zombie About the only reason I can that Rob Zombie saw it necessary to remake a perfect film was to show the sickening backstory and to pipe in a lot more blood. The angry, swearing white trash characters made me want to leave the room. A lot of the first hour is so vile, repulsive and disturbing it made me feel physically ill even though RZ shows some restraint in portraying their exaggerated ignorant meanness. Needless to say this “re-imagining” extrapolation from John Carpenters purist sterile idealized vision rubbed some fans’ fur in the wrong direction so hard they created a fan edit to remove all scenes of Mike Meyers talking and other tweaks. After the first hour the whole film shifts gears and becomes a near-carbon copy of the 1978 flick and also a lot less interesting. I guarantee you’ll be sick of “Don’t Fear the Reaper” when it’s all over. Will you care? Me neither. With Malcom McDowell, Brad Dourif, Ken Foree, Udo Kier, Richard Lynch, Daniel Roebuck, Danny Trejo, William Forsythe and Sheri-Moon Zombie.
