nu // the new strokes record

  • this is a record that adam and i from the demon beat wrote and recorded on the spot with our friend andrew (drummer for prison book club). we had a lot of fun doing it. it's pretty straightforward 70's style garage punk. click the album cover for a free stream/download of the whole record. here's what some folks have said about it:

"Yeah you can’t say Meisterhans and Riggleman ever got the memo that side projects are supposed to suck. While it’s not like they spent too much time thinking about the songs (the 10 songs average two minutes in length -- now that’s pretty punk) on The New Strokes Record, these three dudes capture a raw, abrasive garage rock sound (circa the 1970’s) and punk rock attitude that a lot of bands would do well to emulate...Pretty much all of the songs are catchy as hell, uptempo, with driving guitar, fuzzy, walking bass lines, Meisterhans’ near-patented, gnarly shouting and soulful voice ran through layers of reverb and echo all the whilst continuing his lyrical themes of losing in love -- nothing more straight ahead rock and roll than this has come across the desk of the WVRockscene home office this year." - WVRockscene

"They've managed to capture much of the energy that a good garage punk show should have. I'll tell you, it is worth playing this album through a nice, loud set of speakers even if does annoy one's neighbors." - Space Rock Mountain

""...the playing’s good, the production is solid, and some tracks stick in your head even after the first listen – the band’s strategy is largely ‘write chorus. plaster stuff around it,’ and it pays off." - Wax Trash
