I have a friend who has started up doing 45 and (eventually) 33 RPM analog "Reference" and "Master" Lacquer Cuts, using All-Analog classic equipment here; http://www.groove-o-matic.com/ It is priced very affordable and you can get "Rush Service" to get things delivered ASAP. I have had this done and they sound like real mono 45s and if requested you can have your Master Reference Cut made for Pressing runs of 45s (and soon 33s). All in glorious MONO on real classic Analog Gear (with no Digital Trickery!) Tell 'em I sent ya OK!

Does anyone have some suggestions of good Live/Demo recordings that are out their? I tend to find alot of them rock more than the actual sides... Like the Jerry Mcain Excello Demos or Bob Keanes Ritchie Valens recordings... Jerry Lee Lewis Live at the Star Club... That cool New York Dolls demo album on norton etc.

Sonic Chicken 4 - "Toe Man" b/w "Midnight Girl" 7" (Rob's House 2008) Horrible name, good band. Follow-up single to their In The Red full-length debut. (I think)

I don't know if you have tried, but I have gotten some good feedback from the Vox website. There's an online group I joined that mighy be able to help you. They also have a classified section that you can ask for what you are looking for. They helped me keep my Vox Jaguars,and my Vox Beatle working. And I also have a Vox Phanthom 12 string. I think The Who and The Kinks could be classed as Garage, but I would class them as British Invasion; but then again I don't count British Invasion as a real genre because really it's just 50s Rock N Roll come full circle; and isn't Garage just Rock N Roll played more aggresively?

If you want modern garage i'd pick up the Oblivions, Gories, Mighty Caesars first... For 60s stuff I'd dig The Monks, Chimney Sweeps and the back from the grave series...

This 'whole thing' has been bursting eardrums since the early '50s! Just typing the term 'Garage' into a search engine wont yield the whole story because 'Punk' is a very important keyword in understanding real Rock and Roll. Be prepared that everything you might think you know about Punk could be wrong or different. I recommend starting with a record called Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era compiled in 1976 by Lenny Kaye (where the term Punk Rock is first used). You have alot a great bands to discover so I hope you don't get to many repaets on this thread. Usually three just isn't a resonable figure to choose from.

That said 3 my favs are:
The Sonics - Number one all time favourite
The Monks - They truley were amazing at Dirty Water Club (cheers PJ)
and
All the bands that tought The Fuzztones (check out the double album "Songs We Taught The Fuzztones" for an essential list of Garage classics).

The Jaynetts are pretty damn cool "Sally go round the Roses", although they tend to do alot of versions of the same tune with different lyrics, cause it was a big hit for em... Like their christmas song "Snowman, Snowman, Sweet potato nose"... I also dig the bobbettes "I Shot Mr.Lee"... (1957 tho) Rosie and the Originals "Angel Baby"... Which Roky Erickson covered on "Don't knock the rok"...
