wash yer mouth out! Sara's the best thing musically that's ever happened to him! biz-wise, too. besides, Sam was never ever at the helm of anything except his one way path to self-destruction.
Didn't mean no disrespect to Sara a'tall ...I dig about half of the new record and just overjoyed that Dex is still out there makin' it happen w/ her help... But Sam was good to me, esp. in regards to gettin' to see Dex and I bummed that there's no Cola-town show, tis all. now, the Cobras on the other hand ...a bunch o' screws, that bunch...but that's another tale.....

I also find cool that they are bringing the Cobras around. Hopefully they can drag them over here too. It seems like a very natural team up.
just so there's no confusion, the Dex Romweber Duo is opening up for the Detroit Cobras. and yes, does seem like a very inspired pairing. be fun to see them in ATL!

I know, Europe sux, but can they come over anyway?!?

there's talk about doing just that. not sure when tho.

That sounds fantastic! Thanks for telling. It was great to hear about the band on the show a couple a times, they have some real fancy things going.

Whenever/ifever the Europe thing happens, I'll be glad to write in as the hype monkey. There are a few clubs here in Vienna that would be fitting in my humble impression. Here's some of them.

very cool. I'll get to their manager... so you've been hearing Dex on my show? thumbs up to that! but if I was not clear, that's a duo you're hearing. a lotta clatter for just two peeps, eh?
Sure, Sure! The two where not seperated in my mind. It's awesome what they got going. And the more chatter the better. I also find cool that they are bringing the Cobras around. Hopefully they can drag them over here too. It seems like a very natural team up.

    • i started playing guitar first then got tired of looking for an organ player. so i bought one and learned some chords. it`s actually pretty easy. there is no "right way" just keep practicing. Lightning Boy said:

Thanks definately a great song, I'll try to get a feeling for that riff on the organ. Are there any organ players here in the group who started without any teacher/mentor?

I'm with the idea of over driven amps... (though I've used big muffs for recording). Depending on how loud you are going to be, what kind of sound reinforcement there will be changes which amp is the most rockin' Best bang for the buck is a Supro Taurus, though Bassman 100's break up quick if you use the right cabinet, and if you have the money and need to get silly the original Ampeg SVT shit thumps and gets fuzzy.
Thanks gang fer keepin' it comin' ...unfortunately I'm sold on my current amp set-up: a late 1960s(maybe very early 1970s) Sunn tube amp head runnin' a cheap-o Peavey full stack...most venues I can only "crank" it to 3 or 4 on the volume before ear drums split!! so I can't easily overdrive it all natural-like ....hence the need fer a pedal (much to my dismay as I loath bassists with pedal rigs) AAhhhhhh! Wish I could just test out a bunch o' the above suggested pedals...& the search continues...

    • I think most fuzz pedals (at least the new ones) sounds too much stoner/grunge/metal and lacks bottom. What kind of amps did the bassplayers use in the 60´s? I guess they didn´t have pedals, just overdriven (is that a word?) amps. Also, from what I´ve heard the new Big Muff isn´t as good as the old ones. Here´s a guy showing off the new Big Muff with a terrible riff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeCAJQcgeTA&annotation_id=annotation_256565&feature=iv

    • I agree with The Clash and Ramones. All their albums of this era are great - I even cannot select which one of them is better.

But if to add the band no one mentioned here before (or I did not notice), I would pick Cock Sparrer's "Shock Troops". Although it is a little bit out of 76-80 range, I believe it can be deemed to belong to the same era. I love it as strong as The Clash's albums.
