I didn't really know much about that scen until I read From the Velvets to the Voidoids 15 years ago. At that time, it was still hard to come by (except Dead Boys and Pere Ubu).

Hello! My band The Experiments just released our new album, that we recorded ourselves. You can find it at our website for free: http://theexperiments.com We used the following gear: We recorded in Pro Tools with a Project Mix I/O (8 channels) and 2 more channels though a ART DPS II into the Project Mix's ADAT in. We used the following mics (drums): Overheads: Oktava MK-012-01 (pair) Kick: AKG D112 Snare: Shure SM57 (under) Rack Tom R: Sennheiser e609 silver Rack Tom L: Audix f10 Floor Tom: AKG D11/XLR High Hat: CAD pencil condenser The snare we did under because no matter where we put it over, the drummer hit it with his stick. That's also a big reason we used the Sennheiser on the tom, it's low profile kept it from getting hit. In retrospect, I think miking the snare under gave us too thin a sound. The guitars we did in the same room (different day), with the Sennheiser on one speaker and a Shure SM-7b on another. Vocals were done in a bathroom with the Shure SM7b We're on a budget (who isn't) and that was the best we could afford.

I worked at a place last year that had quite a large crowd of twenty-somethings. None of the people in this age group were interested in "music" at all. They were all into video games and new big budget Hollywood movies that were loaded with digital effects. I hung out by myself. They all thought that I was stuck-up but the fact of the matter is I didn't have anything to talk with them about outside of the jobs we were doing. When Michael Jackson died and I declared him "a baby-fucker", that was it. I went to being lower than snake shit.

and the sound of clapton while he was in Cream.
If you have got close to these sounds please tell me what you did.

FENDER FENDER FENDER.I use a fender frontman 212 r.I use it in my house,can carry it to the studio and i have even used it in a gig.It's pretty cheap and awesome.but i guess that's not what you are lookin' for.

I can help you find bands if you come in crete.My band can open up too.But i don't think that it's in your plans visiting our island.

Just looking for new ideas on how to get local acts that are of similar genre to create bills for tour dates.

What I usually do is....

Take out ads on Craigslist
Search myspace. If i find one local, usually their top friends has others
Find local venue sites on myspace. Usually their top friends has the better locals


Any other tips?advice?comments?

Had me rolling on the floor and brought back a lotta memories!!! Saw these guys in 82 right around the time of this vid and they were exactly like that on stage!! Total hilarity and only time i ever saw people in the crowd gobbing at a band cause the band asked for it! And that was in boring London Ontario Canada....bring on some more Anti Nowhere League!!!

I haven't seen them for about 2 years but the last few times I did catch them they were so bad ass. If they were coming to Denver I wouldn't miss them.....

HAHHA, it is Wire; it's a recording of 12XU, or "12 Times You," which is I guess what the recording is called. The B side is an awful techno mix of the song.
