Most labels only work with bands they know, or are familiar with, have seen live and can work with easily. I wouldn't hold your breath on some obscure American or European label coming forward to release your stuff. Not that's it not good enough, mind you, but because there are a ton of bands out there already, and these labels are operating on shoestring budgets as it is. You'd probably be better off finding a local label or just releasing it yourself and finding a distributor or mailorder outfit that will take it.

Hello there, everyone!

I'm from Russia, Novgorod, and i'm playing guitar in garagepunk duo called The Zombiecops (http://www.myspace.com/thezombiecops). We finally finished our records session and looking for a label to put on our stuff behind the border. 7inch would be superb, but even cd seems nice.

So, guys and girls, please help me, list the labels of any sizes, which take care of trashy garagepunk (like us, like Persuaders, Reatards, and so on, so on, so on...)

By the way, it should be a great list to explore new stuff, as it seems to me ,)

I don't find it strange at all. It's Scion's thing, obviously, so I don't think it's strange at all that they invited members of their own sponsored bands. It's not like this is the SXSW music conference, it's a Scion conference. Those guys would obviously have an expert opinion on the subject since they're being marketed/promoted in this way, and this gives them the opportunity to discuss it. It makes more sense than inviting someone from some other band, I think.

Also, whether or not you found it interesting or not, it does directly answer some of the questions raised in this very thread on the subject. I don't think anyone expected to be bouncing off the walls after watching it.

maybe I can write a song about the problem of writing songs in my head and forgetting them ten minutes later :)

That's the worst! I always keep a notebook in my back pocket for just such an emergency(lets me use downtime at work to put things in the right order, too). If you've got a cell phone, they almost always have a record function; I've used that before too.

I've co-written songs with other people, bouncing ideas of each other when jamming. And again the words come to me in the shower or walking down the street. I've tried sitting down and writing lyrics but I just ended up walking off to have a cigarette and hang out with the dog or listen to some music.

I always wish I had a pocket recorder for those moments when lyrics just start going through my head..unfortunately even if I repeat them over and over I usually forget them before they get written down.  I at least get the jist of a song that way sometimes.

Can't be complete without adding some songs by The Atlantics!  I won't name a specific song, cause they are all pretty cool. 

You don't need a manual or method.  Then everything would sound the same.  I think you are going about this the wrong way.  Play what you want to play.  The key is keeping with a raw and rock n roll sound.  It's up to you how to approach that. 

You can look around here and see the primitive more punk type bands, the more 60s sound inspired bands and everything inbetween.  Doesn't matter if you're into the Ramones, the Cramps, the Sonics, Billy Childish or whatever else.  Go with what you think is right, don't let others dictate your sound.

Garge Punk

Gear/Tone:
Cheap ass Strat Copy, Teisco etc. Fender/Vox/Silvertone/RottenTube amp slightly overdriven, touch or a bunch of reverb.
Fuzz pedals are a good idea...I think generally the raspier the better. Stay away from a fuzz face.

Full chords to me seem much more garage punk so play those. Add some shitty penatonic riffs in there to.
Listen to Billy Childish, The Troggs, The Reatards & any other band rocking out with shitty guitars and body odor.
