    • Another one of the good guys gone. Poly was a human being. I can pay her no higher compliment. RIP

    • Possibly one of the most influential women in my life. She'll still have an impact on every teen girl that heres "Oh Bondage" for the first time. <3

      R.I.P.

    • Sad stuff. 53 is awfully young.

    • I remember thinking how appropriate it was that the vid for "Oh Bondage" is featured in the Punk Rock section of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I was so happy to see it there.  Deservedly so, freaking love it.

    • I'm shocked.  I'd read that Poly had cancer, but had no idea she was so ill.  One of my all-time punk icons.  It's just not right.

    • She was one of my absolute favorites! She will be missed!

    • Favourite chord? G6. Don't know why, I just like the sound of it. I've never used it in a song and probably never will.

    • A is good...A minor makes it a bit more haunting, though.  Bar chords in the shape of E or B are always fun after the 5th or 6th Jack -n- Coke.

    • The Hummingbirds (a really obscure band hailing from my hometown, Helmond)) are pretty blues punk. They're in my music player. As far as I know they released only one, vinyl-only album. The 1st Death Letters album (also dutch) has its punk blues moments, such as this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4za6PNbVSZ8

    • I can personally vouch for the bloozeabilly of Las Drogas   Hey KK

      KK Dirty Money said:

Agreed: there are a lot of bluespunk bands slithering around out there, they are just not at the top of the heap these days and don't get a lot of attention (unless you're talking White Stripes, Black Keys, etc.)

Has anybody heard of The Immortal Lee County Killers II from Alabama?

I play in a bluespunk two-piece called Las Drogas (based out of Ypsilanti, MI - near Ann Arbor and Detroit)
We play a mixture of garage, blues, rockabilly, 50s/60s rock, punk.

    • I triple that emotion about The Bonnevilles....they are going to bring it back in a big way IMHO. LOVE them and can't wait to see em in the US.

    • Not wimpy guitars, but a response to the wimpiness of "Get Back" ... Ike and Tina OWN that song with a really kick-ass version to eat all versions.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipoPPyIIf9A

In the Garage vein, I always liked the Tamron's "Wild Man" but was annoyed by the sheer lack of cojones the whole song has after the "Twilight Zone" opener... the guitar just doesn't cut it.......

    • I am a proud owner of a lot of CLE stuff, including the amazing Cleveland Confidential comp, which is my favorite of all.

Agitated (Electric Eels) is up there near the top, but "Boy Can I Dance Good" (Pagans) is a mighty slab of mightiness.

Having seen Mirrors and the Pagans, Pere Ubu (later version), Human Switchboard, and Death of Samantha, I thought the Pagans brought the house down, but Pere Ubu just blew me away, even if it was not entirely the "original" band.

    • From what little I could find, they were a garage band from France who recorded and released this song in 1966.
