    • everybody, thanks for the replies.  I would just think that in today's age of advanced electronics, there would be something more available and less expensive.  On the plus side, maybe that means that the sound isn't something that the mainstream is looking for and this style of music will stay unmolested by the mainstream.  Thanks again.

    • Hi Everyone!   I did a search but I really didn't come up with too much about this, so I thoughtI'd ask.  Are there any modern keyboards/organs/pianos that can do the Farfisa or Vox sound?  Anybody ever use any of these?

    • i've always leaned towards band with masks, costumes, or a sort of gimmick. especially ones that can back it up with the music they play.  some of the bands i had in thought were...Dead Elvis, Hillbilly Werewolf, The Pits, The Kongsmen....what your top favorite?

    • for those whi might not be aware, James Leg from the Black Diamond Heavies has released a solo album. Very good stuff. He's playing with former drummer from Pearlene, another underrated punk blues band.

      on the blues side of the punk blues thing, some might be interested into the Broke and Hungry record label too...

      Every 3 weeks I leave an open slot to do random themes and whatnot. This week's theme is Progressive Rock, a random mix part 4. I was talking to one of my long-time listeners last week and he brought up how he missed my progressive rock shows, which I used to do every 5 weeks back in the early days before I changed to a 3 week rotation of special themes. I agreed that it had been way too long since I did an all progressive rock show, so tonight is a random mix of prog bands that have NEVER been played on The Metaphysical Circus until tonight! You can call this the "Cherry Poppin' Prog Mix", I guess.     • Thinking about Poly Styrene's death reminded me of all the great X-Ray Spex songs that start with her shouting the song title before the band kicks in (Art-i-ficial, Genetic Engineering ein zwei drei vier, etc).  I want to make a comp of all songs that start with the shouted title.  Here's what I have so far, what am I leaving out:

       

      Point Panic or Wipeout - Surfaris

      Shake and Stomp - Dick Dale

      Shimmy Shake - Ne'er Do Wells

      Fire - Crazy World of Arthur Brown

    • For recording or playing at home or small shows i use an Alamo Dart. all tube rated at 40watts, but it's really pushing about 10.They have a very unique soung and break up great! You can still find them pretty cheap on ebay. i paid $50 at a music store for mine..

      When I need volume I have a Sovtek Mig 60 + 2x12 cab. I bought it in 1997 for $200 with the cab. That thing is a total beast..Its loud as hell, amazing distortion when tha pre-amp section is cranked up. If you can find one of these BUY IT!!! But only the mig 60.The 50 & 100 watt models arent nearly as good..

    • Very nearly finished it. I thought his descriptions of his heroin addiction were fascinating. He never became ill as he only got good stuff and from what he says didn't mainline, so less risk of OD. he did cold turkey several times before eventually getting clean. he implies it helped him work through long recording sessions, but he does sleep a lot!

    • We have a new podcast that will be debuting on the GaragePunk Podcast Network soon featuring Latin American garage/punk/trash/rock'n'roll of all flavors. The host is kletzl from Argentina, and he has a lot of older ('60s) garage from the area, but not a lot of stuff by current/modern bands. So if you have a band from the area (the Caribbean, Central and South America) then please send us your music! You can mail us a CD, upload your music to Mevio's Music Alley, or attach some MP3s to your replies in this thread. But the more music he gets for his show, the better it will be. And, of course, please include some info about the band like where you're from and stuff.
