Glad to hear that too:) Again, my condolences for getting blacklisted from the UG.

oh and we were never blacklisted in Rochester, just from Miami Steve's show and the House of Guitars(probably lol)

Thanks for telling us your side of the story:) BTW, I was real happy for you guys when you did get some airplay on the UG. I also still listen to your garage pop releases on occasion. Please don't hold it against me for still listening to the UG.

well part of that story is true. i played bass/farfisa for the Priests. our singer did kick the shit out of Paul Morabito of the kings(and Moviees)at a Creation show at the Mohawk Place in Buffalo, but even Paul now admits he deserved it.
the song Little Steven played on his show from our Get Hip release, 'Tall Tales' was called 'MORE" and it was part of a weekly or so feature on Miami Steve's show called 'Coolest Song Of The Week' or something...andy from the kings apparently ALLEGEDLY filled Miami Steve's brain with all sorts of nastiness about us saying we're no good, etc, we beat up his guitarist, etc....kind of like going to the high school principal...and well, we were blacklisted from that radio program.
oh and my other band The Quitters wrote an anti-kings song called 'Monkee Suit which wasn't played much at the Babiuk household.
the Cavestomp story is totally accurate, unbelievable, and fucking hilarious even to me! :)
we went on to do some US touring, Las Vegas Shakedown, SXSW, and a European tour in 2005. after that, we split up and i have no idea where anyone is. i'm still stuck in Rochester.

I saw them for the last time in late 2004, when they shared a bill with the Cynics at Rosebud, a now defunct club. Their lead singer and I swapped some stories about the festival at Randall's Island, and he also told me how the band begged Gregg Kostelich to sign them to get them some airplay on the Underground Garage. They did get their CD released on Get Hip a few months later, and one of their songs was named "Coolest Song in the World" at the time of the release...then Gregg and Little Steven had their falling out, and that was the end of the Priests getting any airplay on the UG. I felt really bad for them.

unfortunately, there weren't too many good girl groups from the 60s.
but who has a podcast with just good 60s girls garage?
In the cavaliers we use a Twin reverb and a Vibrosonic reverb (which is a twin with a 15" speaker) and we also have both a fender reverb tank (reissue of course)
A friend of mine have a white bandmaster with a fender reverb tank (which was used by Jan & Dean) , he plays with a strat ! He got a fucking amazing sound ! He got a real surf sound but can also have a MOAM sound, of course itt's not the same money $$$ !
Ha! TV's got it's lucky days when it comes to music ;)
Besides, I'm still kinda weirded out by that use of the Ventures tune on the Hawaii Five-0 show, but I'm happy to hear it anyhow.
Hey, it could be worse, ya know. They could've done the intro to Jersey Shore. ;)
...and Dick Dale. I used to get together with friends to watch it. We'd turn the sound down on it and say rude things.
Nice one, maybe Glee will cover Nobunny. Or maybe not.
Hey didn't The Cramps appear on 90210 years ago?
p.s. party fevers a great record, haven't spun it in long time...
Kopper watches 90210! I have proof.
Believe it or not, Tucson's finest made it onto the opening seconds of Beverly Hills 90210 the other night. Check out the first few seconds of their song "Teenage Timebomb":
I think it may be hit or miss with Korean/Chinese made guitars. I own a Dearmond that is very well made from Korea and a Chinese Danelectro that has a binding tape issue other than that it's ~ okay. I did check out a Chinese Telecaster that was pretty crappy all the way around.
B flat at the moment...y'know if you've got something in A just move it up a fret and woah!
OK. I'll probably get in touch with you next week then. And get me one of those sihrts in order to support the cause and be the sexiest on the beach at the same time !
Howdy podcast lovers. Sorry, no rapture, but instead you get a new Big Enchilada!
It's a country-flavored wild bull ride of an episode called "Sweathog of the Rodeo" with artists like Rev. Horton Heat, Scott H. Birham, The Gibson Bros., Cordell Jackson, The Imperial Rooster and more. Nothing but hell-fire honky tonk, rockabilly and cowpunk melodies
Checkk it out HERE:

String the bass with flatwound strings. Set the EQ to be full and bassy. I have a GK 400RB which has a "String bass" setting. This works pretty good. Use of the left hand for fretting will need to be clear and deliberate while the right hand (Playing with FINGERS) is used to keep the time and slap. Your bassist will need to have good timing & strong hands to keep the tone from distorting though. It's not as easy as people think, but it's possible. I've played tons of Rockabilly gigs like this & I've pissed off a lot of "purists" lol. I used to use a RI of a 51 P bass for this, but now I prefer a Jerry Jones Longhorn bass, which is basically a high end hand made version of a Danelectro longhorn.

I was thinking of a lot of old country(specifically, Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two) when I first started thinking about foregoing a drummer, actually. I love a lot of that old thump and scratch, the vocals are right up my alley too. My issue is that my buddy that I want to draft on bass(hell of a writer with a great sense of rhythm) only plays electric and wouldn't really have the money or the space to go out and get an upright(plus a homicidal, giant cat that still has its claws and loves to scratch things). Trying to think how to get that thump and click on a P-bass.
Great show! Luved luved Gorevette! See you at the next one, K:)
Scrams get to open the show in Albuquerque. Wildly stoked about playing with some heroes.
It was maximum rock n' roll!
Plus, my friends in Gorevette (featuring Detroit garage rock icons Nikki Corevette and Amy Gore of the Gore Gore Girls) did a great job opening the show.
