My last DJ gig was an all day fest (10 hours) in between bands.   I didn't have monitors other than my headphones so I had no idea when the sound guys had turned me off (for soundchecks and junk). They had me set up on a bouncy-ass, plywood stage, which was the same stage that bands were loading their gear onto!  Didn't get paid and the booker/promoter didn't even provide a single drink ticket. I feel you on this one, Kopper.

To be honest I would say Mark Ronson is the reason why Whinehouse doesn't suck more. No disrespecting your taste in music but she can't sing where as this guy is a talented musician. Valerie was a crappy cover not because the music sucked, I like the Zutons version more but Ronson didn't ruin it, her vocals did.

I just heard Get out and Get it and a couple of others. Hmm, they aren't hurting anyone but there are enough better bands on this site alone for me to concern myself with.

I've heard some of it. I was worried about Mark Ronson's involvement, but it doesn't sound like he's wimped them down any. Yeah it's bit poppier but that's no bad thing and it's clear that its what they wanted and not what anyone made them do. I never felt like buying their last one, but I'll probably get this.

I wasn't real hopeful when I first heard about the new album Arabia Mountain. They brought in an outside producer Mark Ronson, who has worked with Christina Aguilera, Duran Duran (Christ!) and Amy Winehouse (who I DO Like) I figured he was going to polish it up to where it might sound like some poor man's Green day or something.

So I was surprised today when I got a copy and listened to it. It is a little poppier than previous albums, but I like it a ton better than their last album.

What's everyone else think?

Motor Drive has got a girl talking and it looks like they only have recordings from Thursdays.  Are there recordings of your show?

I do agree boy but, unfortunately, you sometimes have to deal with what you got...

It's just not the same.

Not just because of the rush, but also because of the skills required. Combining writing, directing, rock and roll,blending production with songs on the fly, creating production to perfect transitions, riding live posts and outros, programming a non-stop, escalating show that NOBODY wants to turn-off: It's a completely different league when it's live.

But then again, we ARE talking about Vaudeville vs Hollywood...

It's not that we're ASKING people to stop what they're doing every Thursday at 7pm Pacific time, we just have to figure out ways to make people WANT to stop.

No, of course you weren't the only listener. It's just that not everyone chooses to "like" or comment on every damned post here. I know I don't! In fact, the nature of *podcasting* is that your show is delivered to people via the RSS feeds. There's no need for people to come to the site to listen/download or like/comment. If they subscribe, then they get it, enjoy it, and wait for the next episode. Or they might load up the automatic feed player and just let it play throughout the day (which is how I normally listen to all the shows here). Most people—myself included—don't feel the need to interact with the show or the host. It was the same way when I had a radio show. I might go the entire two hours without ONE phone call. Very seldom did I actually get requests, and when I did, they usually didn't even fit the format of the show! And that was real radio that's always had this illusion of having lots of listeners and requests and stuff. Sure, in a perfect world, everyone would comment or like stuff so we all get warm fuzzies, but that's not the way it is nor has it ever been that way. But for some reason Michael took it personally. Whatever.

I never saw him play live but simply were glued to listening to the band's albums.  I loved watching them on You Tube for many reasons but one of the main reasons was because of Mark's fronting.  I loved his vocals, loved his style, and always liked that the band were from Bethlehem PA.  I recently read he went back to school to get additional education.  Sad news on Our Brother, The Man.
