As far as garage and psych are concerned:
Dead Skeletons - dead magick
Shapes Have Fangs - dinner in the dark
Black Keys - el camino
Cosmonauts - new psychic denim
Wooden Shjips - west
Liquid Sound Company - acid music for acid people
the Cosmic Dead - psychonaut
Dirty Beaches - badlands
Singapore Sling -never forever
Lumerians - transmalinnia
Screen Vinyl Image - strange behavior
Night Beats/UFO Club - split
Night Beats - lp
I'm including psych stuff that very post punk/goth/shoegaze influenced in this list. Lots of long songs that are heavy on electronic sounds - may or may not be to your liking : P.
I have to admit- Im sort of stuck in a musical past as well! But there is this one band, Shannon and the Clams, that caught my attention. The singer used to be (or still is?) a member of Hunx and his Punxs-- Also a fun band by the way-- but has her own thing now. Sleep Talk is the name of an album they released this year.
Also Leaches of Lore and Tenderizor are two bands that I've discovered this year. They come out of New Mexico and are just fucking great.
Led Zeppelin "Whole Lotta Love" :You need kool-aid,baby im not foolin' (you need coolin',baby I'm not foolin'
"I promise that I'll never litter again"....The Cold War is in full gear , our President's been assassinated , and The FBI is worried about THIS ?!

The Roulettes, Bad Time...
If you should whaaaaat???
Do you think it was on purpose?
The way you're doing this, you may as well add "Smokestack Lightning" to "Primitive," since that's obviously what The Groupies were ripping off, and The Rivingtons' "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" and "The Bird's the Word," as well as The Flames' "The Bird," to "Surfin' Bird."
"The Crusher" from Off The Bone was originally by The Novas.
I don't really know why you're counting a lot of these as originals of the Cramps' songs. Borrowing a riff or a beat or the "feel" of a song doesn't really count for much in this type of music (punk, garage, rockabilly, etc.), in my opinion. Everyone is derivative of everyone else, it's part of the appeal. ;)
Of course, I know that the Cramps did write their own material! Or some of it! But part of their legacy is the discovery of a whole new world. So thanks for the tips, I'll continue my exploration. The Cramps had impeccable taste!
Off the Bone (1983)
Human Fly: yes people say it's Green Mosquito by the Tune Rockers but I'm not convinced. I find Kick Out by surf band The Safaris (on Wail on the Beach compilation) sounds much more like Human Fly !
The Way I Walk: Jack Scott
Domino: Roy Orbison
Surfin' Bird: The Trashmen
Lonesome Town: Ricky Nelson
(Garbageman)
(Fever)
Drug Train: Bill Allen, Please Give Me Something
Love Me: The Phantom
I Can't Hardly Stand It: Charlie Feathers
(Goo Goo Muck)
She Said: Hasil Adkins
(The Crusher)
Save It: Mel Robbins
New Kind of Kicks: The Sonics, He's Waiting
Smell of Female (1983 mini-LP)
Thee Most Exalted Potentate of Love: ?
You Got Good Taste: ?
Call of the Wighat: ?
Faster Pussycat: The Boss Tweeds, soundtrack to Faster Pussycat Kill Kill
Ain't Nuthin but a Gorehound: ?
Psychotic Reaction: The Count V
1985 maxi single
Can Your Pussy do the Dog: Del Raney's Umbrellas, Can Your Hossie Do the Dog (for the title only?)
Blue Moon Baby: Dave Diddle Day
Georgia Lee Brown: Jackie Lee Cochran
1986 maxi single
What's Inside a Girl: ?
Get Off the Road: R Lewis Band
Give Me a Woman: Andy Starr
Yep, Bill Edwards.

a misfits manifesto, by Donna Gaines? It's a book by this sociologist/rock and roll fan, showing how rock and roll has influenced her life. Engrossing...

I gotta second John Battles, Roctober is the best music magazine out there. Hands down. It's scope is way wider than garage, but it's all Rock&Roll, Rock&Soul, whatever. I really dig Avi Spivak's Human Being Lawnmower. That rules. He also just did the Kicksville Confidential comic for Norton which kicks ass. And I do PORK. It's free, it's nationally distributed, PORK #5 just came out with King Lollipop, Hunx, Danny James & Pear, Andy Human, Wax Idols, Guantanamo Baywatch, John Holmstrom & King Lollipop. PORK is a big old broadsheet like INTERVIEW & is inspired by the NYC of Warhol, Lou Reed, New York Dolls etc, Mad Magazine, Ed Roth hot rod & biker stuff for kids, the 60s Undergrounds, Japanese pop stuff, John Waters, the Sammy Davis Jr. side of Church of Satan, etc. Personally I came out of Oakland, CA so there's a definite east bay connection/emphasis, and I was a fuckin' UK82 Chaos Punk type when I was a kid so that leaks through. ha ha. Anyhow, if any of you have good suggestions for places to send boxes of PORK magazines, that's helpful too. We wanna hit every city in the country.
