 couple of cans with gels sounds like it might be the way to go. the chavet would be nice if you could just get it to stop blinking completely. even every few seconds is more than i want to dick with. it might be a good idea to just experiment with two cans to see if they would do the trick. we got enough on our plates without becoming light artistes. i just get so tired of videos with 2 of the guys becoming lurking shadows. we are funny looking so people should get the full effect.

we use a couple plan old can lights, some time with different gels. cheap and easy to set up. I also own one of these

so depending what club or house part we are playing, it gets used quite a bit. you can turn the strob/beat sensor down to pretty much zero, so it will only blink every few seconds. plus for 39$ bucks i don't really care if it gets beer thrown on it.

that sounds cool but what we are really looking for is just plain lights so people can see us on a stage that is poorly lit. most clubs have one or 2 places on stage that are well lit. but it leaves the rest of the band in the shadows. films and effects are cool but for better or worse we want the audience to focus on US. not something in the background. but please send the link i would like to see it!

most small clubs have pretty bad lighting. usually half the band is in the dark. is there a really cheap portable light to at least make the whole band visible? no strobes just a constant single color or white. don't want to shoot lights out into the audience. would like the singer to be visible when moving to front edge of the stage. we ain't pretty but what's the point of a live show if you are not all seen?

Well, yeah, the deadline for the next volume. However, you can continue to submit songs for future volumes.

I saw them play in 1989 which was my first time.  I remember they did "Gloria" and they were proud to announce that they did "Twist and Shout" before the Beatles (which technically isn't true but they didn't know that;as far as they knew, Beatles' came out in '65) but then proceeded to play it like the Beatles version instead of the caveman style they did on their album.  Lynn Easton quit in early '67 and has never rejoined them.  Dick Peterson actually sang their last two or three singles.

I was in the front row at The Sonics reunion at Cavestomp back in 2007? Such young lad I was, not even old enough to drink. Anyways, man they really got the crowd rolling. It was weird seeing them play with music sheets and all, but it was all still really good.  More recently I saw The Alarm Clocks, at the Norton Fest, had my doubts that they were going to be any good, man was I wrong.

I have noticed, in the last decade or so, a newer generation of collectors coming up who were weaned on soul/funk and are going out of their way to acquire it on vinyl.

It does amaze me to see people in their twenties buying the same singles I bought for 50 cents at Wax Trax Records long ago. I almost want to say, damn, where were these "soul kids" 25 years ago when I needed them?

The main difference I see with the younger crew is that:
(a) they all seem to think that reissues are tools of the devil (shoot, I usually buy originals and reissues about equally)

(b) they think $10 is cheap (well, these folks did grow up in the post-CD age, so I guess they have a different viewpoint of what a bargain is)

(c) they're a lot more tolerant of disco and "modern soul" than I am
