So , Honeyboy Edwards was the oldest performer I've ever seen,he was 93 or 94 the last time I saw him.He was a Bluesman , but , he always brought The Rock.  I am going to read the previous comments , but I'm going to be 48 , soon , and I've got the Rheumatism in both eyes , and the misery in my back , and the Arthur - Itis , and I told so many lies in my day , I contracted Phlebitus (You'll have to be over 45 to understand that.). 

What about the girls? Women love them some Roky , too . That is a great collection , and you NEED THIS AND THE "APRIL FOOLS DAY " INTERVIEW (FEATURED , IN FULL, ON "LIVE AT THE RITZ , 1987.".).

Wow. You have some cool stuff. Love the tiki! I'm very fond of waht you call "pawn shop guitars" too, and have posted pictures of some of mine in the other gear thread recently.

Hey fellow freaks, I've been writing about weird gear for a while and thought I'd post some it for y'all to check out.  I basically grew up playing pawn shop guitars and grew to really love them.  They can still be had for cheap, and with a little work, can be everyday players!  Plus they have the garage sound in spades!!  Here's some examples of what I'm talking about:

I like both, but the Stones get the edge since I can't think of anything the B's did that I would consider "garage" or "punk".  On the other hand, Get Off My Cloud by the Stones was so inspirational to what we support here in The Hideout.  The B's may have lived the lifestyle, but their music leaned more towards pop.

Hey.

I just recently(Yesterday) started a lo-fi/noise/beachy sounding band with my roommate after teaching her the basics of bass.
 
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of really beachy sounding lo-fi bands.

By beachy, I mean like Best Coast's early demos (Where The Boys Are/Make You Mine) and The Vivian Girls stuff. 

I was also wondering if there are any bands like that with boys singing. We're sharing vocals and it'd be cool to hear some stuff like that.

I like the "Not So Pretty " comp , too. The Fleshtones tribute is great , too. I've heard The Fuzztones tribute is great , because Rudi was able to procure so many good bands , so even the Haters might find themselves enjoying it.   I'd like to see a comprehensive Cramps tribute , no Psychobilly bands , thanks. I liked that stuff to a point , but Lux and Ivy never did. Doug Sahm deserves a good tribute record , though The Bottle Rockets did one of their own. There's a few Johnny Thunders tribs , but "Let's Do This One For Johnny" stands tall , even if it does'nt have Little Bob Story. Cub Koda deserves a tribute . I have'nt seen one for The Dolls or The MC5 , though they must exist. A new and improved Roky tribute would be the ticket. The Sky Saxon / Seeds tribute album is finally on the way .......

I really tried , but could'nt , get into the Stoner Rock thing that much , but , I knew it was crucial to a newly repatriated Blue Cheer making any kind of a comeback in The U.S. , which did'nt happen. They played in Chicago five times from 2005 to Dickie Peterson's death , and , on average , performed for 50 to 150 people , because people who should have been there thought they were too cool. I like the tracks on that compilation , but , each and every Stoner and Cookie Monster - Singing Metal band that I saw play with them......well , The Cheer could've eaten them all for breakfast.   Just sayin'.

"Groin Thunder" is pretty good. I would have replaced the Dwarves' "Strange Movies" with T.Tex Edwards and Lithium Xmas' version , which came out at the same time.

The Waste Kings' "Feels Like a Woman" would have been an asset , too.

 I thought Gary Glitter doing "The Raver" would've been choice. It's practically the blueprint for the "Glitter " sound.  We've already talked about all that other stuff regarding him.

The now - rare Blue Cheer Tribute CD is also very good , Stoner bands that don't suck and Psych bands that seldom noodle cover songs from pretty much every facet of Dickie and The Cheer's career , and do some really interesting things , for the most part.

The Chocolate Watcband in "The Love - ins". Reportedly , they were'nt shown as prominently as they should have been , because band members pulled some ace pranks on the set , pissing off the powers that be . They're shown , center screen , for about 3 seconds , then mainly from the back with acoustic guitars. The song selection is outstanding , including "Are You Gonna Be There (At The Love in?)" , and an extended "No Way Out". Dave Aguilar told me he was so dissatisfied with "Riot on Sunset Strip" (In which The Watchband kicked ass , of course , netting a large piece of the film.), he did'nt bother seeing "The Love - Ins". I sent him a copy , several years ago.
