Martin Denny and Esquivel yes.
Add maybe some Les Baxter, one drop of Perez Prado, a thin slab of Yma Sumac and a dose of Latinia-style moody surf.
Or even some spacey instro a la Gene and the Esquires and a bit of theremin...
Also, you can't wrong with the LAVENDER JUNGLE compilation or even some Las Vegas Grind/ Jungle Exotica comps for a more sleazy cocktail.
Cheers Ladies and Gentlemen !
You can't go wrong with Esquivel.

Like "Bert" , somebody named "Bert"? That's still kinda funny. Lumabgo's not funny ,but, it sounds funny when you say it.....
Yep, I'm sad, someone told me it was berts and i looked it up and apparently it's berts. No cockney humour I'm afraid. Would be better if it was though...
Is that right? I always thought it was "Bird's Lumbago" , not because I ever thought a bird could GET Lumabago , just Marriott's irreverent/irrelevant Cockney humor. Did you see a transcripton of the lyrics ? I usually don't look 'em up, unless I must.
Check out Jack Wild's version , if you can. Between the two of them , and Davy Jones (Who never recorded the song.) ,it could have been The Artful Dodger Trinity song.
Small faces: lazy Sunday
How's your bird's lumbago?
Should be 'how's your berts lumbago?
I thought birds could get lumbago, probably can now I've said that.
Years ago a friend of mine heard this lyric as 'It's the Return of the Vulture', which amused me no end, as I remember there being a Spiderman story of the same name way back in the 60's. In a similar punk/animal vein, another friend thought the Sham 69 line 'Hurry up Harry, come on', was 'Hurry up, hairy camel'.

It's funny you should say that , an old ex - friend and I were listening to "Alternative Ulster " , and he heard it as "A tail of RED LOBSTER " ! Jake Burns is , or was , living here in town...I wonder if anyone ever told him that.

I'm looking for some underground music like the bands mentioned in the title; Cramps/Birthday Party influenced. Know any?
All this going on at once , and Jeffrey Evans had to OPEN THE SHOW? Oh , well.....I WILL READ THIS LATER , MY EYES ARE A BIT IRRITATED , IT LOOKS LIKE YOU COVERED ALLTHE BASES, WHICH IS HARD TO DO WITH A BIG FESTIVAL LIKE THIS.....
I never thought much of them , but , I realize that probably puts me in a minority. I think Kopper has a point , though he left it here about a year ago. A friend who tried to get me going on them was also a Quaker , coincidentally. She did'nt mention the guy from NMA being one.
PAUL REVERE IS A MENNONITE (NOT THE SAME THING.) AND WAS A CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR BEFORE THE VIETNAM WAR BROKE OUT. I'D MUCH RATHER LISTEN TO THE RAIDERS , THO' AN OLDER FRIEND OF JAMES PORTER AND MYSELF TOLD HIM THEY'RE "GARBAGE" . HA HA HA.
Doc,
I still dig New Model Army, and listen to them on occasion, although I only own The Ghost of Cain and Thunder & Consolation...thunder bein my fave-

Adam: Please do.
And Allan: Please let us know when your friends' book materialises...
Hello Adam,
I was in the Prisoners, JTQ, Prime Movers, Headcoats, Solarflares, loads of other Medway bands and currently doing my own thing in The Galileo 7 (new album out now!). I'll do my best to answer any questions about the Medway 'Scene' (or whatever you might call it) you have. A couple of my friends are writing a book about the whole thing and have already started interviewing a few people. No idea when it might materialise though..
You can do it via this thread or write to me at thegalileoseven@hotmail.com if you like.
Cheers
So jealous you got to see those bands Matt, especially The Buff Medways. Where did you see them? Do you think there's any chance you could scan the copies of that zine into the computer? I would love to read them and I'm sure they would help. I'd never heard of it before you said.
And Jon, I'm not sure where it'll be available, I've only just started on the project but I'll definitely let you know.
Cheers.
however 2 short but sweet classics from this century that get 2 thumbs up from here would have to be our german cousins al with 'i got pot' and them dangerous danish dames the felines with 'daddy walk'.

The radio show I co-host (The Big Mix) is being truncated this week due to a high school football game (The not so Big Mix?). Shorter show = shorter songs (< 1:30). Tune in at 5:30 Central this Friday to se what my favorite shorties are (or not).
The Dickies' "She Loves Me (She Loves Me Not)" and "I'm a Cholo" were always a must when I was making mix tapes (I still do.) and had about 45 seconds left over.
Obviously , songs like "Base King" and "Party With Me Punker" by The Minutemen fulfilled the same function , but , I never followed them that much. Liked 'em , saw 'em once , and was very sorry about D.Boon , but , was'nt as into 'em as a lot of my friends.
"The Human Mertzes" - Plan 9. Their last (Good) album , prior to reforming , "Sea Hunt" contains the 13 minute title track , and the prevously mentioned , 13 Seconds long , track , back to back.
My friend , Brad Warner (Dimentia 13 , Filmmaker - "Cleveland's Screaming.") , was on a Cleveland Hardcore comp where bands competed to write and record the shortest song , meaning at least one verse. The band that won clocked in at about two seconds....
HC does'nt do it for me , anymore , but ,that IS pretty hilarious.
Roky Erickson - "I'm a Demon". The first version , seemingly , to turn up was easily less than 30 seconds long , only to find out it was one verse of a longer song , still easily under two minutes.
Nice write-up today in the Express about D.C.'s Windian Records.
http://www.expressnightout.com/2012/10/primal-screams/
Nice quote: "In the endless cycle of rebirth that is garage rock, Windian is right up there with Goner Records, HoZac, In the Red, Infinity Cat and other neo-paleo labels."
