No commentsFuck Off, 2004!
Ya know, looking back, this was a pretty shitty year. It’s really easy to get depressed over the state of the nation and recent political/world affairs. We seem to be going backwards as a nation, people are more conservative, frustrated, and fucking STUPID than ever. Our complete buttwipe/moron/sleazeball president won himself another 4 years in the White House thanks to a rigged election. Religious zealots are running amok, laying out their plans on legislating morality. Not to mention a costly and unneeded war going on and on and on in Iraq with no end in sight, high gas prices here at home, skyrocketing insurance rates, people more concerned with the Scott Peterson case than what’s happening in their own communities, REALLY BAD TV programming, EVEN WORSE commercial radio sludge, and furthermore… the Cards lost embarrassingly to the Sox in the World Series, there ain’t no fucking HOCKEY season (I’m going through withdrawal), and the Rams look about as awful as they have since coming to St. Louis almost ten years ago. On top of all that, my car’s running like shit (but HEY! at least it’s running) and the paint has started to flake off. So I’m back to taking the bus to work. Sheesh… However, musically speaking, 2004 was another winner (well, for wild & wooly garage/punk/rock’n'roll, anyway). In fact, I’ve got more great releases to spin on the year-end Wayback Machine Best of 2004 Special than I’ll be able to fit on the show. Two hours just ain’t enough. True dat. So I face the daunting task of just featuring the cream of the crop. That means featuring tracks from somewhere between 45-50 albums that came out in the past year, when I’ve got a total of probably 60-65 that I *could* feature. That’s a good thing. I’m struggling right now in trying to come up with some sort of a list, and trying to decide which albums don’t make the cut. It’s a dirty job, but it’s a cross I’ve got to bare. Ha. In any event, it oughta be interesting, so be sure and tune in to the show next Monday night and hear something that might make you not think about how shitty a year 2004 was, at least for a coupla hours, anyway. I hope you all have a great holiday and I’ll yap at ya later.
Stay sick!
