KDHX 88.1 FM is a non-commercial, listener-supported radio station offering a full spectrum music mix along with cultural and public affairs programming. It is a full power 43,000 watt station, broadcasting to the metropolitan St. Louis area and communities within an 80-mile radius. KDHX is licensed to the Double Helix Corporation, a non-profit organization which is independent of any governmental entity and is not affiliated with any religious or educational organization.
The Wayback Machine began airing on KDHX in November 1995 and can be heard on Saturdays from 3-6am. The show’s format focuses primarily on obscure, rare primitive garage rock’n'roll, surf, 60′s & 70′s punk, blues punk, rockabilly, frantic R&B, and modern roots-based garage and punk artists that lend their sound to the primal, lo-fi, raw, untamed howlings of early rock’n'roll. The music library has grown considerably, and now includes hundreds of titles on LP, 7″ & 10″ EP, CD’s, and cassettes, but we still require an ongoing supply of music for the show to be even more inclusive and to keep the programming fresh, and to stay current on new releases. So please send promotional tapes, CD’s, and vinyl to the address below. Each promo is guaranteed airplay (granted it fits the format), and inclusion on the monthly playlist, sent out via snailmail to dozens of record labels, magazines and bands, as well as being posted in the Primitive Garage Rock’n'Roll folder on America On-Line and the alt.music.banana-truffle newsgroup on the Internet. Cassette tapes of the show are available upon request.
