I LIKE ALL FOUR UNDERTONES ALBUMS , TALK ABOUT UNPOPULAR OPINIONS ! I started with "Positive Touch" , bigger production, but , a great sound.

I got it for $2 at a College Radio record station. the others I picked up , years later , tho' i COULDA , WOULDA SHOULDA , bought teh first two for a few Dollars at the record store at the mall. "LOVE PARADE" HAS MORE GARAGE, AND , JUST TO PLAY IT SAFE , SOUL , INFLUENCES ON IT............

All the albums I've seen posted so far are great! Many of them my absolute favourites. Anyone mentioned Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables yet? 1980 so it just makes the cut. Love that album. Personally I think this 'first era' started a bit earlier than '76 though... Can we count Kick Out The Jams as early punk?

Has to be The Ramones. Probably First one just for the way it flows. Does Motorhead's Overkill fall into this category? Lemmy said they had a lot in common with the punks. Some great songs on that album.

I AGREE. Motorhead was the first Metal band Punks could agree on . Before there was talk of "Crossover" or "Speed Metal", They were arguably more intense , more "Who gives a fuck?" than many Punk bands. They were'nt part of The New Wave of British Heavy Metal. "We are Motorhead , and We're Gonna Kick Your Butts !"- LEMMY.    I WAS JUST THINKING OF "OVERKILL" , YESTERDAY....My favorite early 80's LP , tho' , would be "Iron Fist"..... I EVEN LIKE THE EARLY STUFF , WITH LARRY WALLIS , WHICH ALMOST NO ONE LIKES. Lemmy was well liked by  the Punk crowd , even though he did'nt conform to their dress sense , and he even did a short stint playing Bass for The Damned as "The Doomed".

Dead Boy , You're right ,  "Over The Top " and "Ballroom Blitz" were credited to Motordamn (Sometimes called "Motordamned"). But , when The Damned broke up , for the first of many times , Vanian , Scabies and The Captain briefly regrouped as "The Doomed" , and they WERE Doomed. But , I've heard one live recording , they sound pretty good. They even did "Silver Machine" !

Yeah, I know.  I have one or two their live recording(s), too.  Yeah, 7" bootleg EP which I have includes "Silver Machine"!  But the sound quality really sucks! :D

Slaughter and the Dogs - Dog Style

      Motorhead S/T and Overkill

Some of my favourites, plus all those Please Kill Me bands that have been mentioned multiple times. A lot of good metal formed around this time too, much of it with punk influence—mostly the nwobhm stuff.

If I can say only one it must be The Ramones- It's Alive, but have to squeeze in Dead Kennedys- Fresh fruit for rotten vegetables and any of the Iggy albums The Idiot/Lust for Life/New Values as well.

Singles Going Steady by the Buzzcocks. Yes it's a compilation of their singles but every track is killer. It introduced me to their genius back in the pre-Internet days when you had to work to find good music.

I STILL HAVE TO WORK TO FIND GOOD MUSIC ON THE INTERNET.....But , I agree , it's an essential comp. There's another one that came out later with a few extra tracks like "Are Everything"....It's called Trade Transmissions , I think. I've had the cassette for about 25 years , but , it probably came out on CD at the time , also....

Great underrated Canadian album is the Demics s/t from 1980. One of the best vocals in the 1st wave of Canadian punk

"New York City", "400 blows", "The News", "The Least You Can Do"...etc.

It's common opinion that their 1st ep is better than the album (which it is), but the album is still killer. Great cover "Talk Talk" by the Music Machine too.
