I've never seen any and I'd be very surprised if any existed at all. Photos from that time period are rare enough as it is. Filming bands back then (esp. live) rarely ever happened unless they happened to be on a TV variety/dance show and someone saved the footage.

First off, Hello. I'm new to the site & second off I was just wondering if anybody out there knows if there is any live Sonics footage from the 60's. I've found lots of reunion stuff on youtube, but I really want to see them in their prime.

Man, I really miss Horizontal Action. Noises From the Garage was great, too. Gearhead magazine is a pretty worthwhile read, esp. if you dig cars and punk/rock'n'roll. But yeah, get a subscription to Ugly Things. Mike Stax is a member of this network, actually, but I don't think he checks in very often. Too bad... it'd be great to have him contributing more.

In print, there's Ugly Things and Shindig. Ugly Things is by far the best. In fact, it's incredible. I do think that MRR has lots of entertaining reads that are non-music, and they do cover a decent amount of garage. They just had a cover story on Bad Sports and Ty segall.

Online, I'd recommend Terminal Boredom, Garage Hangover, Nortonville, Kicksville66, The Houndblog, WFMU Rock 'n' Soul Ichiban, KBD Records.

Can anybody suggest some good ones?  I'm mainly interested in print, but online are also cool. 

I don't mean stuff like MRR which seems more hardcore punk and political oriented. 

Stuff that focuses on garage, garage-punk, surf etc. is what I want. 

The best I've found so far are both from Greece.  Lost in Tyme and Rumble Skunk.  They are both great and have tons of content, but only seem to come out once or twice a year.

I saw him several years ago with Boss Hog, he looked a little bored just playing rhythm guitar,not like the guy who's ready to jump out of his skin that we're used to seeing.I'm going to try to make it out to see him,the only problem is he's part of that festival deal and there is tons of filler(only my opinion).

Just saw Heavy Trash a few weeks back, KILLER show!!! Looked like the whole band was having a blast as was everybody in the place! Jon really dug the opening band, catl (killer 3 piece blues/punk outta Toronto) and was getting those cats drinks during their show....fun time had by all!!

Well, after going all WHO-ish with a 50 Watt Hiwatt plus matching cabs, I´ve recently found out that Solid State Amps can be way better than their reputation.
Currently I´m using some very rare, but neverthless pretty unexpensive Jennings amps (O-50, B-50 and J-100) from the early 70s. Although there´s not one single tube in them, you can crank them pretty much and they´ll crunch like an AC 30 (not too astounding, since Jennings himself IS the inventor of the AC 30).
When playing a tour with the great Jim Jones Revue, one of their Twin Reverbs passed out and guitarist Rupert Orton was pretty freaked to use one of these - but after two seconds he smiled again.
Plus, they do take EVERY pedal extraordinarily well.
I get my heavier crunch sound with an Orion Effekte Silverdrive (the clearest Overdrive I´ve heard thus far), plus some fuzz with wether my beloved Roadrunner Supersonic Fuzz or a Barber Trifecta or an Earthquaker Devices Hoof Fuzz. Reverb comes from an Earthquaker Devices Ghost Echo - one of the best Reverb pedals there is. It´s true.
Plus I play two Hollow Body Guitars - a Gretsch 5122 (the "Cheapo-Gentleman") with TV Jones PUs and - a Hoyer Cat - a korean take on an old german brand guitar.
It´s not an expensive setup, but that should never be the point, anyway. It just sounds darn freakin´good. To me.
