Good to hear that you’re still doing the garage band thing. See you decided to play the B side of the Laymen record. AS you point out, the B side is the same as the A except it haa no vocals. Don’t remember the reason for that except that Suzy Storm may have been sick and “Sometimes” may have been the only track that came out. Recorded at Cosmos in New Orleans April 1967.

I was surprised at the quality of these old records. My vote for the best of teh Panhandle: Tikis “Somebody’s Son”. Thanks for doing this.

Jeff got a nice note from Charlyne Kilpatrick, who was in the (Pensacola) Sandpipers with her sister Debbie and Sally Hurst:

“Jeff, I’m listening to the website now with my sister Debbie! Cool! We are loving it! We dated some of these guys and got to sing with them too. Thanks for your efforts to keep this old music alive.”

Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this show. Jim Roark sent me a a Show Bill from the Electric Experience. It was a major rock venue here in Pensacola. The show that night featured The Dickens, The Laymen and the Phatons.
Thanks so much for doin’ what your doin’. I hope that you don’t mind that I put a link to this show from musicpensacola.com.
By the way, Mighty Sam McClain is doing well. He has been touring Europe every year for the past few years and has a nice web site.
    All the best

Enjoyed listening to this show. My oldest brother played the organ for the Scoundrels so I recognize a lot of the groups. It is a shame that the Scoundrels never actually recorded anything. They were awesome and I spent a lot of time at the National Guard Armory when they played. My other brother had a band named the Contours. So there was a lot of music in our house. I loved it!
    Good work,
    Mary

Just found your website and wanted to comment on Brllig and the Nymbol Swabes. I saw them live at the Bearcat Den on the banks of the Flint River in Bainbridge, Georgia. I knew their key board player, Mack Willis. Their song, “I’m Gonna Love You Anyway” was written by the drummer who loved Mack Willis’ sister but she dumped him and that was his inspiration for the song. I still have that song on a 45 rpm record I bought when it first came out.

I cannot remember the name of the group but this group had a local hit back in the early 60′s around the Panama City, Florida area and, if my memory is right, they once opened for Hermin’s Hermits at the Civic Center at the Marina in Panama City. They had a local hit titled, “Strawman”. I have been trying to find that song for years. Do you have any idea who this band was? Thank you.
