“…the psychobilly scene essentially got its start in Los Angeles, CA about the year 2002…”

Huh? You’re gonna have to explain that one, Matt! I probably first learned of psychobilly back when I was listening to the Meteors in the 1980s. In fact, I’d go far as to say it got its start in England in the early ’80s, wouldn’t you?

  2. Matt

hahaha! I’m just poking fun… consider this an alternative history of psychobilly…I’ll post the playlist tonight everyone (google group and here)

  3. Matt

And you’re right (admin), most consider psychobilly starting with the Meteors in the early eighties and the harder teddy boy and rockabilly bands of the time that were mixing rockabilly with punk energy. The LA 2002 thing is referrance to the explosion of psychobilly in the US around that time which has morphed into some sort of goth/metal hybrid lol…

I played as support act with my first many for Guana Batz, Flintstones and some more in the late 80′s / early 90′s http://www.theroadrunners.de So you can believe me that psychobilly startet before 2002

  6. Matt

    I don’t believe you webELVIS.

    I’m joking in the show!!!!

  7. aarrrgggghhh

I thought It was obvious you were joking, you make a good propagandist Matt, mixing vague truths, less vague truths and outright inaccuracy. I love it

  8. Matt

Just tryin’ to confuse the ones who know and misinform the unaware! No one really wants to know the history of psychobilly… that’s what google is for! lol

  9. swt

I invented psychobilly, with my friend Al, just a couple of months ago. At Denny’s.

    (Great show, Matt)

  10. Matt

I knew I had my facts all wrong! Thanks buddy!

  11. poison dick

you guys are morons for believing him BECAUSE he’s playing those bands…

  12. admin

Yeah, sure, Dick. It’s easy to come in AFTER you read his playlist and other comments and say that. But when I first heard this show, before I saw or read his playlist and before he played any of that music, he starts off by saying the psychobilly scene started in 2002… that’s when I posted the comment. So eat me.

  13. poison dick

hahaha that’s even worse because i hadn’t even started listening to it yet and i didn’t need to because of the bands in the description paragraph, not even the playlist. but you listened all the way through that sarcasm soaked intro and all the bands and clips that anachronistically defy the 2002 statement and still didn’t get it…
my words sound harsh but my tone isn’t. it’s a cool podcast and would love ot hear part II

  14. admin

Congratulations. I listened on the podcast jukebox – no description.

  15. Matt

No need for name callin’ this is supposed to be fun! Pt. 2 of the history of psychobilly should focus on bands from the 90′s and maybe another episode with bands from the 00′s. History of psychobilly pt. 4 is mostly rap-metal. Happy to take requests for any of em’!

  16. poison dick

    anything by kid rock.

  17. Mr A The Barber

Unfortunately I’m old enough to be livin’ proof of Psychobilly’s presence in 1980 and still have the scars to show from the manic rockers from hell stomping in what we now call the mosh pit!! GO MENTALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  18. Matt

    Thanks for listening :)
