Riot on Sunset Strip Revisited
Host: Mal Thursday
In an episode dedicated to the late Sky Saxon, Mal Thursday trips back in time and space to Los Angeles, California, circa 1966, and the teenage riots that inspired the exploitation classic Riot on Sunset Strip. Then, dig some bitchin’ Seeds covers from Thee Headcoats, Alex Chilton, the Zeros, the Fiends, and the Freak Mountain Ramblers, as well as a set of Mal’s favorite Seeds tracks. Presented in Living Monophonic Sound.

whoa, didn’t hear about Sky Saxon’s death – glad I caught the news on your show, nice tribute.
also, I’m really digging the sound bytes/audio clips that are spliced throughout the show… especially when it’s from the movies!
I love that scene of The Seeds on that corny TV show, that you started the podcast with … the video is on Youtube, and Sky Saxon is really twisting up a storm with his purple cape and jerky dancing and clapping… in that living room!!! gonzo!

how come sky sunligt saxon isn’t in the rock and roll hall of fame? because he never worked for the man

the future album was just tooo far off the scale for the plastic fantastic record companies of the time
2009-07-22 at 15:00
No, because neither he nor the Seeds were ever “famous”… it’s the Rock’n'Roll Hall of FAME. People keep forgetting that.
2009-07-22 at 15:03
It’s the Hall of SHAME, Kopper. Madonna? Grandmaster Flash? Jann Wenner is a tool.
Lord Tim Hudson?!? How cool is that? Thanks, Lord Tim. The Seeds’ LPs were genius, as were your liner notes!

That’s exactly my point, Mal. Why does anyone here even give a rat’s ass about the R&R Hall of Fame? It’s pointless to even argue about it because it’s a fucking joke. So who cares if Sky’s not in it? The end.
