Great show! So, Myspace is the ‘dark ages’, huh? Well, it is still indispensable if you have a band to promote. Facebook ‘fan’ pages just don’t pack enough punch if you are a band and throwing snowballs and sending smilies is just not my thing. Long live RadiOblivion!

Another shockingly good amount of fun!

It’s fine if you have a band or record label to have a Myspace page FOR the band/label, but don’t let that be your only avenue of promotion. In other words, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Set up a Myspace page, a fan page on Facebook, as well as get yourself a website (preferably with a blog) that is all your own, and on your own domain (if you can’t afford the roughly $5/month it costs to host a website for your band, then you should throw in the towel NOW). And having a page on other independent social networking sites (like The Hideout, for example) is also recommended. When you have a band or something you’re trying to actively promote, there’s no such thing as spreading yourself too thin.

@Gringo Starr – Oh, don’t pay no mind to me, Chris. I’m just grouchy because my DSL still takes up to 20 minutes for the music players to load on Myspace. I’m too old and crotchety to conjure up that kind o’ patience. Them seizure inducing, crypto-ray backgrounds and images kind of get my goat too. The wife says if I’m this grouchy now, she hates to think what I’ll be like when I’m even older!
Bless Myspace.
