RadiOblivion

Host: Michael Kaiser

I really have no snappy description this time; I’m too distraught over the “C” incident… I know that I said that “C is such and such,” but I don’t think that was true. I don’t believe that you would accept that whole blurb as plausible, because in context it makes no sense!

I need to devote the energy that would have been used to write an episode description to remember what “C” actually was… or is.

However, I do have the wherewithal to let you know that RadiOblivion No. 17 has two WORLD PREMIERES by The Boars and Thee Crucials! They are your new favorite bands!

I can’t believe how lucky I am that I’ve found your site! Thanks so much for your hard work! As a 30 something 80′s “skate punk” currently living in “suburbia”, listening to these tunes brings back that ‘ole feeling of freedom I used to feel!

    Will do Michael:)

I do have a question for you though. As I listen to the show, I hear so many great songs, and I do get artist info and album names, but what I’d really like to know is where I can BUY the album, preferably for download. Whether it’s from the Amazon MP3 download site, iTunes, or from the band’s own site, that would be great information to have, especially since I am starting to promote music on my site now http://wordpressmodder.org/music-posts-on-wordpress-modder-125.html

Well, normally it would be a bit inconvenient, not to mention extremely time consuming, to explain where each and every song can be purchased. We have to leave at least a little bit of that up to the listener, whom we feel should be able to figure at least some stuff out on their own. On our website we provide a pretty thorough list of links to record label sites as well as distro houses where you should be able to find much of what we play. But obviously that won’t cover everything, so you may just have to Google the artist’s name and see where that takes you. You should first make sure that you are subscribed to our Podcast Playlists Google group, so you can get a listing of what’s played, which will greatly assist you in your search. Most (if not all) of the current bands that appear on our podcasts have Myspace pages, so a simple search such as [ Myspace "left arm" ] should give you quick access to Left Arm’s page and from there you can hopefully (depending on how much info the band has on their page) find out exactly where to purchase the music, either via record or CD, or download from sites like Amazon, iTunes or Snowcap (the latter is used by a lot of bands with music to sell on Myspace). Soulseek is another option for finding free(!) downloads of music (there’s even a “garagepunk” room there), although I don’t recommend using that since I happen to believe that the band should be compensated in some way for the download, and much of what you’ll find on Soulseek was put there without the artists’ permission. So I hope that explains things a little. We basically feel that it is our job to put the music “out there” so people can hear it (as well as provide at least some helpful information about the artist and the release), and from that point on it’s up to them to go out and find it and buy it. Have fun!
